  • New horned lizard license plate launches to support conservation
    The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) unveiled a redesigned specialty license plate featuring the state reptile, the horned lizard, marking the 25-year anniversary of its Conservation Plate program. Sales of the plates (about $30 each) have raised over $12.7 million for wildlife conservation to date, with more than $5.4 million coming from the horned-lizard plate alone.
  • H‑E‑B breaks ground on major new San Marcos store with BBQ concept
    Grocery chain H-E-B initiated a $30 million project for a 114,000-square-foot super-store at I-35 and McCarty Lane in San Marcos. The store is slated to open in late 2026, will add around 600 jobs, and will feature the city’s first in-store True Texas BBQ restaurant among its offerings.
  • Flight reductions loom at Dallas and Houston airports as shutdown impacts aviation

  • Governor appoints Justin Hewlett to North Texas Tollway Authority board
    Greg Abbott appointed Justin Hewlett of Cleburne to the North Texas Tollway Authority Board of Directors. Hewlett, former mayor of Cleburne and local business owner, will serve a term through August 31, 2027, helping oversee operations of toll roads in Collin, Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant counties.
