Across Texas, cities and towns are holding remembrance ceremonies this Friday, September 11, 2026, marking 25 years since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. From border crossings to courthouse squares, communities statewide are pausing to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day and the first responders who answered the call.
Laredo: Border Bridge Traffic to Pause for Ceremony
U.S. Customs and Border Protection will temporarily halt vehicular and commercial bus traffic at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge starting at approximately 6:45 a.m. to host the 25th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony. Travelers planning to cross that morning are encouraged to do so before 6:45 a.m., with the Colombia Solidarity Bridge opening early, at 6 a.m., as an alternate route.
Dallas: First Responders Climb 110 Flights
More than 400 firefighters, police officers, and EMTs took part in the Dallas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb over the weekend, climbing 110 flights of stairs downtown to honor first responders who died in the attacks and those who later died from illnesses linked to recovery and cleanup efforts. The event began with a remembrance ceremony at Main Street Garden Park, where bells tolled for the fallen before participants made their way to Comerica Bank Tower.
Grapevine: Procession at the 9/11 Flight Crew Memorial
Grapevine will mark the anniversary with a remembrance ceremony and a 1.3-mile procession at the city’s 9/11 Flight Crew Memorial, located at 1000 Texan Trail. The memorial was originally dedicated in 2008 to honor the 33 flight crew members and passengers lost in the attacks, and has since grown into a broader tribute at Memorial Park. The ceremony begins at 7:30 a.m., with live streaming available on the City of Grapevine’s Facebook page.
The Woodlands: Patriot Day of Remembrance
The Woodlands Township is hosting its Patriot Day of Remembrance Ceremony from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at The Woodlands Central Fire Station, 9951 Grogan’s Mill Road, inviting residents, visitors, and first responders to come together in honor of those affected by the attacks. The ceremony will also stream live on The Woodlands Township’s Facebook page.
Bellaire: Ceremony at the WTC I-Beam Memorial
The Bellaire Fire Station will host a remembrance ceremony centered around its World Trade Center I-Beam memorial, erected through contributions from the Bellaire Southwest Houston Rotary Club, Piper Whitney Construction, and other local stakeholders. The memorial allows visitors to touch and reflect on a physical piece of the World Trade Center, and officials say the ceremony will stand as a testament to the nation’s resilience 25 years later.
Sulphur Springs: Ceremony at the Historic Courthouse
Sulphur Springs will gather at the Sulphur Springs Courthouse at 9 a.m. under the theme “Honor. Remember. Never Forget,” inviting local residents, veterans, and first responders to unite in remembrance of the victims of Flight 11, Flight 175, Flight 77, and Flight 93, along with those lost at the Pentagon and World Trade Center.
Gainesville: Ceremony and Blood Drive
Gainesville Fire-Rescue will host a remembrance ceremony at 9 a.m. at Gainesville Fire Station #3, 308 N. Culberson St., honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who died responding to the World Trade Center. The ceremony includes a tribute at the department’s 9/11 memorial, which contains a piece of steel recovered from the World Trade Center, followed by a community blood drive.
Prosper: Ceremony and Blood Drive
The Town of Prosper will hold its 25th Anniversary 9/11 Ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Central Fire Station, 911 Safety Way, featuring remarks from town officials, an honor guard, and a CareFlite helicopter flyover. A Carter BloodCare Blood Drive will run alongside the ceremony from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Communities across the state are encouraging residents to attend in person where possible, or to tune into live streamed ceremonies, as Texas joins the rest of the country in marking a quarter century since September 11, 2001.
