Your Neighborhood Tech Support Center Is Throwing Open Its Doors This July!

Here’s some news that’ll make your weekend: Connected Dallas at the Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation is rolling out the red carpet this July with FREE classes, one-on-one tech support, and all the digital help you’ve been wishing for.

What’s the Big Deal?

Picture this: You walk into a friendly space where real people actually want to help you figure out technology. No judgment, no rushing, no “have you tried turning it off and on again?” attitudes. Just genuine support from folks who get that technology should work FOR you, not against you.

Whether you’re 16 or 60, speak English, Spanish, or Farsi, there’s something here designed just for you.

Here’s What You Get (All FREE!)

The Everyday Essentials:

  • High-speed internet and computers when you need them
  • Printing and scanning (because sometimes you still need paper copies!)
  • Help creating email accounts that actually work
  • Password recovery when you’re locked out of everything
  • Support filling out online forms and applications
  • Job search assistance and resume building

The Game Changers:

  • One-on-one tech support tailored to YOUR specific problems
  • Help enrolling in Texas benefits like SNAP, Lifeline, and WIC
  • Social media guidance so you can stay connected with family
  • Google and Microsoft skills that employers actually want
  • Digital literacy classes that go at your pace

July’s Can’t-Miss Classes

Week of July 21st:

  • Wednesday, July 23rd: PowerSchool for parents (Spanish, 11AM-12:30PM)
  • Thursday, July 24th: Navigate PowerSchool like a pro (English, 4PM-5:30PM)
  • Saturday, July 26th: Computer basics in Farsi (11AM-12:30PM)

Week of July 28th:

  • Wednesday, July 30th: Create stunning graphics with Canva (Spanish, 11AM-12:30PM)
  • Thursday, July 31st: Design like a pro with Canva (English, 4PM-5:30PM)

Plus: Texas Benefits assistance available throughout the month – get help with SNAP applications and other state programs.

When Can You Drop By?

Regular Hours (Walk-ins Welcome!):

  • Monday & Wednesday: 9AM-2PM
  • Tuesday & Thursday: 2PM-7PM
  • Friday & Saturday: 10AM-2PM

Pro Tip: Classes fill up fast, but they also offer walk-in support during regular hours. Come early if you want guaranteed one-on-one time!

Why This Matters Right Now

Let’s be real – everything from job applications to school registration to grocery coupons happens online now. Missing out on digital skills isn’t just inconvenient anymore; it’s limiting your opportunities.

But here’s what makes Connected Dallas different: they’re not just teaching you to click buttons. They’re giving you confidence. They’re helping you feel like technology is something you can actually master, not something that masters you.

The Bottom Line

This isn’t your typical “computer class for beginners.” This is your neighbor saying, “Hey, I figured out this tech thing, and I want to help you figure it out too.”

Whether you need help with PowerSchool to track your kid’s grades, want to create a killer resume, or just want to finally understand what all those icons on your phone actually do – this is your month to make it happen.

Location: The Computer Help Center at Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation (Connected Dallas)

Cost: FREE (seriously, no catches)

What to bring: Just yourself and whatever tech questions are keeping you up at night

Ready to turn your relationship with technology from frustrating to empowering? July is your month. Don’t let another month go by feeling left behind by the digital world.

Your future self – the one confidently navigating online forms and creating beautiful documents – will thank you for making this move.
