According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 4.9-magnitude earthquake shook West Texas at 10:38 p.m. on Monday, causing tremor in neighboring areas in West Texas and reaching all the way to North Texas.
The location is about 10.5 miles northeast of Hermleigh and 200 miles west of Fort Worth in Fisher County.
An aftershock with a 4.4 magnitude and a third 3.1-magnitude shock continued to hit the region at 10:46 p.m. and 11:56 p.m. respectively.
The quake is reportedly the 8th largest in Texas’ history.
Fisher County’s population is 3,622. There hasn’t been any reports of property damage or human injuries from the earthquake yet, as of Tuesday morning.
People reported feeling tremor in larger cities such as Lubbock, San Angelo, and Abilene, and even the Dallas – Fort Worth metroplex.
This morning, smaller quakes in scale, including a 2.0-magnitude quake and and a 2.9-magnitude, happened at 6:38 a.m. again in West Texas.
