Baroque, Classical, and Romantic masterworks performed by rising stars from Fei Tian Academy of the Arts — streaming free this Saturday at 8 p.m. ET. After this weekend it becomes a paid program.

You don’t need a concert hall ticket or a babysitter this Saturday night. One of the most beautiful musical performances of the spring is coming straight to your screen — completely free — and it disappears behind a paywall after the weekend. Here’s why you should set a reminder right now.

What You’re About to Watch

This Saturday, May 2 at 8 p.m. ET, Fei Tian Academy of the Arts streams the fifth of six highlight concerts showcasing selected works from their 2025 school-wide instrumental music competition. The program moves through three of the most beloved eras in classical music — the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods — each with its own distinct character, technical demands, and emotional depth.

The lineup features works by Wieniawski and Brahms, two composers whose music pushes performers to their absolute edge, alongside a pipa solo — a performance on the Chinese four-stringed lute that has been central to Chinese musical tradition for over two thousand years. The pairing of Western classical repertoire and Chinese classical instrumentation on the same program is a reminder of how wide and deep the world of serious music actually is.

These are not casual performances. Fei Tian runs a rigorous conservatory-level program, and the musicians taking the stage are the same rising stars who go on to perform with Shen Yun, one of the most technically demanding performing arts productions in the world. What you’ll watch Saturday night is the next generation of world-class performers at the moment their talent is just beginning to announce itself.

Who Is Fei Tian Academy of the Arts

Based in New York, Fei Tian Academy of the Arts is the institution where most of Shen Yun’s dancers and musicians receive their training. The school is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and developing traditional arts through education and performance — with a curriculum that holds both Western classical training and the deep traditions of Chinese artistic heritage to the highest standard.

The school-wide instrumental competition that produced these six concert programs was designed specifically to develop students as performers — to give them the experience of preparation, pressure, and presentation that separates a conservatory student from a concert artist. What you’re watching is that process on full display.

Why You Should Watch This Weekend

After Saturday night’s free stream, this concert becomes a paid program. This is your one window to watch it at no cost — and it closes after the weekend. The program runs approximately one hour, starts at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 2, and streams online. No travel, no tickets, no formal attire required. Just good music, the best performers you’ve seen in a while, and a Saturday evening that leaves you genuinely refreshed.
