Pickle-eating contests, a pet parade, and vendors from across the state turn Helotes Festival Grounds into a two-day celebration of all things brined.
Helotes Festival Grounds, Helotes, TX — Saturday-Sunday, September 19-20, 2026
There’s a festival for just about everything in Texas, and this September, it’s the pickle’s turn to shine. In A Pickle Festival returns to Helotes Festival Grounds for a two-day celebration built entirely around one beloved, briny snack, and it’s bringing the whole family along for the ride.
The festival runs Saturday, September 19 through Sunday, September 20 at Helotes Festival Grounds, located at 12210 Leslie Rd. Saturday’s carnival and select vendors stay open until 10 p.m., while Sunday rounds out the weekend with a full day of pickle food, shopping, entertainment, and contests.
Billed as one of the biggest pickle celebrations in Texas, the festival brings together pickle vendors from all across the state, selling everything from classic dill spears to pickle snacks, pickle merchandise, sauces, seasonings, crafts, and plenty of one-of-a-kind creations you won’t find anywhere else. Beyond the shopping, expect pickle-inspired foods, live entertainment, carnival rides, and family activities running throughout the weekend.
The contests are where the festival really earns its reputation. Pickle eating contests and pickle juice drinking contests draw competitors looking to test just how much brine they can handle, while the festival’s crowd-favorite pet parade lets four-legged family members get in on the fun too. Add in shopping from local makers and small businesses, and there’s genuinely something for every generation, whether you’re a hardcore pickle lover or just along for a fun weekend out.
Families in the Houston area don’t have to wait long for a second chance to join the fun. The same festival organizers also bring In A Pickle Festival to Kingwood on Saturday, October 10, 2026, located at 8 N Main Street, with free admission for anyone who wants to stop by.
Whether you make it to Helotes in September or Kingwood in October, In A Pickle Festival offers a genuinely fun, only-in-Texas way to spend a weekend with the family, no matter how you feel about pickles going in.
