FORT WORTH, TX — Nestled in the heart of the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame pays tribute to the spirit, resilience, and achievements of the Lone Star State’s legendary cowboys and cowgirls. Since its founding in 1997, the museum has been a cornerstone for preserving the Western lifestyle, rodeo traditions, and rich cultural history of Texas.

Honoring Excellence in the Cowboy Way

The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame recognizes over 160 remarkable individuals who have excelled in rodeo, ranching, performing, and sports medicine. Inductees include world champions like Ty Murray, Tuff Hedeman, and Charmayne James, as well as iconic figures such as George Strait and Tommy Lee Jones. Each exhibit offers a window into their lives, showcasing memorabilia like championship buckles, saddles, and videos that celebrate their legacies.

“The Hall of Fame embodies the hardworking and pioneering spirit of the ranching and rodeo cowboy,” the museum notes. Visitors leave with a deeper appreciation of the sport’s roots in Texas ranch life.

A Showcase of Unique Collections

Beyond the Hall of Fame, the museum offers a diverse range of exhibits, including:

  • The Hickman Wagon Collection: Dubbed the “world’s largest lifestyle wagon collection,” this exhibit features over 60 meticulously restored antique wagons, carriages, and sleighs. Highlights include a Sicilian Cart from the 1750s and a Welsh Funeral Hearse from the 1600s, each offering a glimpse into the evolution of transportation.
  • John Justin Trail of Fame: Dedicated to the legacy of John Justin Jr., this exhibit chronicles the history of Justin Boots, a brand synonymous with quality cowboy footwear. The interactive display includes boots, photographs, and a video narrated by Red Steagall and President George W. Bush.
  • Amon G. Carter’s 1933 Cadillac: This fully restored V8 Coupe, complete with a pistol holster, belonged to the Fort Worth philanthropist known for declaring Fort Worth “where the West begins.” The Cadillac connects the dots between horse-drawn wagons and modern automobiles.

Immersive Experiences

Visitors can also step back in time at the Jersey Lilly Old-Tyme Photo Parlor. With vintage costumes and Western-style backdrops, families and groups can capture a moment in sepia-style photography that celebrates the charm of the Old West.

Expanding Horizons

Since its move to the Stockyards in 2001, the Hall of Fame has grown to include exciting additions like the John Wayne: An American Experience exhibit and Loz Vaqueros. The facility is undergoing renovations to enhance its offerings, promising new and interactive exhibits that honor the enduring legacy of Texas cowboys.

Plan Your Visit

Located at 2515 Rodeo Plaza, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame welcomes guests from around the world. Be sure to check operating hours, as renovations may temporarily affect access to certain exhibits. For more information, call 817-626-7131 or email info@texascowboyhalloffame.org.

Whether you’re a history buff, rodeo fan, or just looking for a unique Texas experience, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame offers a vivid journey into the past while celebrating the enduring spirit of the cowboy way.
