LAREDO, TEXAS — Downtown Laredo is embracing a new creative chapter as the Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #1 (TIRZ #1) invites local artists and property owners to participate in its new mural arts initiative. The program aims to enliven the historic district with vibrant, culturally inspired artwork that celebrates the city’s identity and brings art to daily life.

Property Owners Encouraged to Participate
Building owners with well-maintained, highly visible exterior walls are invited to offer their properties as mural canvases. Applications and information are available online at CityofLaredo.com, or by contacting Amanda Pruneda at (956) 791‑7459 or via email at [email protected].

Goals of the Mural Arts Program

  • Showcase community pride through distinctive murals

  • Enhance downtown’s cultural and touristic appeal

  • Offer opportunities for local and regional artists

  • Spark economic and aesthetic revitalization in the urban core

Bringing Walls to Life
The murals will transform downtown into a living gallery—capturing the stories of Laredo through bold visuals that celebrate its heritage. Visitors can expect colorful, photo-friendly artwork enhancing the urban landscape.
