Exclusive: Texas Insider Talks with Matthew Low, Chairman of LOH Foundation & Director at Asia Times Square

In a time when many across the nation feel disconnected, disheartened, or anxious about the state of our country, glimmers of hope for a better future can be found in the simple yet powerful acts of gathering together, sharing with others, and committing to live our authentic lives. These actions build the community muscle we need to create a more inclusive and cohesive society.

Asia Times Square, powered by the LOH Foundation, is proud to announce the formation of a new Cultural Ambassadors group. We believe that by sharing our cultures and reaching out to embrace the diversity around us, we can create the synergy needed to foster a more united community.

A Space for All Cultures

The vision at the ATS Plaza, is to celebrate and share the Asian diverse cultures and traditions with the community. This is open to everyone—regardless of ethnicity, age, or race. Each event aims to highlight different cultures, sharing stories and traditions that reflect the richness of the Asian communities. There is no politics involved—just people coming together to connect, understand, and appreciate each other.

This initiative aims to banish hate and answer violence with understanding and unity.

Brothers Steve and Matthew Loh established the LOH foundation with a vision to help their local Asian community in Grand Prairie, Texas. They offer scholarship programs, emergency funds, and business initiatives.

The LOH foundation also built the Asia Times Square Development, boasting as one of the largest Asian markets in the Lone Star state. At the Asian Heritage Fest 2024 at the Asia Times Square, the LOH foundation hosted the “5K Race to Replace Hate.” The marathon event invited participants to run or walk 3.1 miles to celebrate Asian Heritage Month and unite against discrimination.

Matthew Loh: Chairman

Matthew Loh, the youngest of the Loh family, graduated from the University of Texas, Arlington with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has been a driving force in the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce for the past nine years, including serving as Chairman. Under his leadership, the Chamber created the first Asian Business Division in North Texas, which has been recognized at the federal level. The Loh family immigrated to the U.S. from a Vietnamese refugee camp in Malaysia in the late 1970s.

Matthew also serves on the Business Advisory Board for the Grand Prairie Independent School District, where he helps align educational curricula with real-world business needs. He founded the LOH Foundation to support the community in times of need, whether through scholarships or emergency funds.

Matthew’s respect for his own culture and his dedication to celebrating global cultures at Asia Times Square events have made him a respected leader in the community. His vision and leadership promote not just tolerance but genuine appreciation and respect for diverse cultures.

Matthew expressed his deep appreciation for America and what being here means to him. The Loh family immigrated to the U.S. from a Vietnamese refugee camp in Malaysia in the late 1970s. Having the opportunity to become a business leader in his community as a former refugee, Matt has a unique understanding of freedom and what it means to be a real American. He emphasizes the importance of appreciating the system that allows everyone to pursue their own version of the American dream.
