DALLAS — The call has gone out across Dallas: community operatives needed for a high-stakes summer mission. Dallas Animal Services is launching “Mission Pawsible,” an ambitious month-long adoption drive aimed at placing 1,200 shelter pets into loving homes by July 31.

The blockbuster-themed campaign transforms everyday pet adoption into an action-packed community challenge, turning every adopter into a “lifesaving operative” working toward a common goal.

“We know Dallas doesn’t back down from a challenge,” said Paul Ramon, Director of Dallas Animal Services. “Last year, the Dallas community adopted more than 12,000 pets from DAS, making our shelter one of the top-performing in the nation.”

The timing isn’t coincidental. Summer represents the shelter’s busiest season, when overcrowding becomes a critical concern for animal welfare organizations across Texas. Mission Pawsible aims to tackle this seasonal surge head-on while building on Dallas’s impressive track record.

A Community That Delivers

Dallas Animal Services already leads Texas in adoptions, a distinction that caught the attention of national animal welfare organizations. Sophia Proler, South Central Director for Best Friends Animal Society, praised the creative approach.

“At a time when shelters across Texas are overcrowded, this campaign is exactly the kind of creative, community-driven action that makes a real difference,” Proler said. “It’s why DAS led the state in adoptions in 2024.”

The campaign supports the broader Dallas90 initiative, which strives to maintain a 90% save rate at the municipal shelter—a benchmark that places Dallas among the nation’s most successful animal welfare programs.

Mission Perks and Prizes

To sweeten the deal, Friends of Dallas Animal Services has ensured that Mission Pawsible operatives receive more than just the satisfaction of saving a life. All July adoptions are free, and the first 1,200 adopters will receive limited-edition Mission Pawsible t-shirts.

The campaign includes a community referral challenge: when adopters refer friends who successfully adopt, both parties enter a drawing for one of five pet-themed gift baskets valued at $100 each. No purchase is required—just a shared commitment to the mission.

Themed weekends throughout July will feature giveaways, photo opportunities, and special adoption showcases. The shelter will maintain a live “Mission Dashboard” tracking real-time progress toward the 1,200-pet goal, adding a competitive edge to the community effort.

Ready for Deployment

Prospective adopters can begin their mission at Dallas Animal Services, which features “Ready for Deployment” pet profiles showcasing animals prepared for their next mission—finding a forever home.

Mission Headquarters:

  • Address: 1818 North Westmoreland Road, Dallas
  • Hours: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Weekend Hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday
  • Website: BeDallas90.org

Whether motivated by the mission theme, the free adoption fees, or simply the desire to help, Dallas residents have a clear opportunity to make a measurable difference in their community this summer. With 1,200 lives hanging in the balance, Mission Pawsible represents more than clever marketing—it’s a genuine call to action for a city that has already proven its commitment to animal welfare.
