In an era where the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) increasingly infiltrates the United States through spy balloons, digital theft, and cyber crimes against Americans, the rally for a meditation group in America becomes notably significant. Many Americans are unaware of how the CCP treats its own citizens who resist surrendering their freedom of belief.
The story of Falun Gong is a profound example of the CCP’s oppressive capabilities. The CCP wants the West to perceive it as rational and benevolent, merely engaging in business like any other nation. However, its ultimate aim has always been to surpass the US as the superpower and establish global communism, imposing a chokehold system on the world’s population.
Human Rights Watch reports that the CCP government is one of the world’s worst abusers of religious freedom, displaying open hostility towards all religious faiths, including Uyghur Muslims, Tibetan Buddhists, Christians, and Falun Gong practitioners.
The CCP has implemented a five-year plan to align all religious doctrine and practice with Communist Party ideology. This includes rewriting holy texts, forbidding youth from participating in religious activities, and establishing mass detention camps that indoctrinate detainees with CCP ideology, forcing them to renounce their faith.
Leaked government documents reveal that “religion-related reasons,” such as men wearing beards, women wearing veils, and families having too many children, are used to justify detaining Uyghur Muslims and imposing further ideological control over the Chinese population.

The CCP also claims authority to select Tibetan Buddhist lamas, including the next Dalai Lama, and considers house churches and Falun Gong adherents “illegal” if they refuse to join CCP-led organizations or renounce significant aspects of their beliefs.
Authorities frequently close or demolish houses of worship and offer cash rewards to informants who report religious adherents. Individuals found violating laws and regulations controlling religion face harassment, surveillance, interrogation, arrest, beatings, imprisonment, detention, or disappearance.
The CCP maintains absolute control over law enforcement and the judicial system, using both to suppress calls for freedom, human rights, and the rule of law. Authorities routinely detain those who do not conform to CCP ideology. Those brave enough to speak out often face prolonged and secret detention without access to legal counsel or communication with their families. Lawyers, human rights activists, intellectuals, journalists, religious leaders, and ethnic and religious minorities are frequent targets, accused of vaguely worded charges suggesting treason and subversion. These arrests and the fear they instill are tools in the CCP’s effort to maintain unchallenged power over the people.

What is Falun Gong?
Falun Gong, or Falun Dafa, is a spiritual practice rooted in traditional values that emphasizes self-improvement through the study of teachings, as well as gentle exercises and meditation, according to the practice’s website. The teachings emphasize adhering to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and encourage learners to let go of unhealthy habits (or attachments), such as desiring fame, being prideful, and ignoring the welfare of others.
The practice was introduced to the public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, in China’s northeastern Jilin Province. Within six years, Chinese state sources reported that 70 million to 100 million people were practicing. Today, millions continue to practice Falun Gong in more than 100 countries, including in China, where the ruling communist regime brutally persecutes adherents for their faith.
The persecution of the spiritual meditation practice Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is ongoing in China. This July 20 marks the 25th year since the beginning of the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. Thousands of Falun Gong adherents from around the United States will gather on July 11 at the nation’s capital to commemorate the events and raise awareness.
