Two teenage girls are in custody after allegedly planning to plant pipe bombs and carry out a shooting at a Montgomery County high school, authorities said.
According to Spring Branch ISD police, the suspects, ages 15 and 16, reportedly detailed their intentions on social media, prompting law enforcement to take immediate action. Investigators found the threats credible due to their specificity and level of planning.
The 16-year-old suspect, who attends Memorial High School, was located on campus approximately 30 minutes after the threats were reported. She has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony offense.
Authorities, including the FBI’s Houston office, worked quickly to track down and detain both individuals before they could carry out any attack. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the two students attended different schools and were apprehended separately—one on unrelated charges and the other in Harris County.
“Our top priority is ensuring the safety of our schools and community,” the sheriff’s office stated. “We understand the concerns this situation raises and have implemented additional security measures while working closely with school officials and law enforcement partners.”
The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue reviewing the case.
