  • Federal Court Blocks New Texas Congressional Map
A federal judge ruled that the newly drawn 2025 Texas congressional map is likely “racially gerrymandered” and barred its use in the 2026 elections. Civil rights groups had challenged the map, arguing it diluted minority voting power, and the court has ordered the state to revert to the 2021 map for now.

  • Abbott Renews Border Security Disaster Declaration
Governor Greg Abbott renewed his disaster proclamation for dozens of Texas counties, citing continued illegal crossings and security risks at the U.S.–Mexico border. The proclamation reactivates state resources and agencies to address the ongoing border crisis.

  • Flood Watch Issued for Austin–San Antonio Region
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch along the I-35 corridor—from Bexar to Travis County—as a strong cold front approaches. Rainfall could reach 1–3 inches, with isolated areas potentially seeing up to 6 inches, raising concerns about runoff and flash flooding.
