  • Hard freeze alert issued across much of Texas
A strong Arctic front is sweeping through the state, prompting Hard Freeze and Freeze Watches from the Panhandle to Central Texas. Temperatures are expected to dip into the 20s in northern areas and low 30s elsewhere, with forecasters urging residents to cover plants, protect pipes, and bring pets inside.

  • Texas economy shows signs of slowing but remains resilient
The Texas job market grew modestly in October, though wage increases have flattened and housing demand has cooled. Economists note that while overall growth is slowing, the state continues to outperform much of the nation thanks to steady gains in energy and manufacturing.

  • Triple homicide under investigation at San Antonio business
Police are investigating a deadly shooting at a North Side business where three employees were killed. The suspect was found at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and officials say the case appears to be an isolated workplace incident.

  • Texas State Fair sees record-breaking attendance
Organizers of the State Fair of Texas reported record crowds this year, crediting cooler weather and new exhibits for drawing over 2.7 million visitors. The fair also raised more than $10 million for scholarships and community programs statewide.

  • Crews battle large grass fire in West Texas
Firefighters contained a fast-moving grass fire near Abilene that burned more than 2,000 acres and forced temporary evacuations. Strong winds and dry conditions fueled the blaze, though no homes were lost, and crews remain on alert with more dry weather forecasted.

  • Galveston welcomes first cruise ship under expanded port terminal
The Port of Galveston celebrated the arrival of a new cruise liner as part of its $150 million terminal expansion. Officials said the project will boost tourism and local jobs, marking a major milestone for Texas’ coastal economy.
