  • Homicide in Austin parking-lot shooting
    The Austin Police Department responded to a shooting around 3:11 a.m. at a 7-Eleven on 1822 Rutland Drive where a man, later identified as Quinton Arnold, was found fatally shot.   • Houston records unusually high October heat and drought
    The Bush Intercontinental Airport weather station reported an average high of 92.4 °F through the first 11 days of October—making it the city’s warmest start to the month on record.   • Universal Studios theme park in Frisco clears major hurdle
