  • Fort Worth plane crash kills two
Two people were killed when a small plane crashed into several semitrailers near Hicks Airfield in Fort Worth, causing a massive explosion and fireball visible for miles. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause, with early reports suggesting possible mechanical failure before impact.
  • Paxton sues over alleged West Texas county takeover
Attorney General Ken Paxton filed suit against Malcolm Tanner, accusing him of trying to seize control of Loving County by incentivizing new residents with housing and stipends to sway local elections. Paxton’s office says the scheme undermines election integrity, while Tanner denies wrongdoing, calling it an effort to “revitalize” the county.
  • Fuel spill chaos at DFW Airport
A viral video from Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport showed a ground worker losing control of a high-pressure fuel hose, spraying jet fuel across the tarmac. Officials said no injuries occurred and the spill was quickly contained, but operations in the area were briefly halted during cleanup.
  • Texas defeats Oklahoma in Red River Rivalry
The No. 11 Texas Longhorns beat No. 6 Oklahoma 23–6 at the Cotton Bowl, with quarterback Arch Manning throwing for over 250 yards and two touchdowns. The defense dominated, holding Oklahoma scoreless in the second half and reviving Texas’ playoff hopes after two recent losses.
  • Tropical Storm Lorenzo poses no Texas threat
Tropical Storm Lorenzo formed in the eastern Atlantic but is projected to stay far from U.S. shores, continuing a relatively quiet hurricane season for Texas. Meteorologists say warm Gulf waters remain calm, reducing the likelihood of any major storms before season’s end.
