U.S. Customs and Border Protection said its June hiring event drew more than 1,900 job seekers and nearly 500 applications — part of a nationwide recruiting push that has added more than 140,000 people to its Talent Network this year

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said its June hiring event in Jacksonville, Florida, drew a strong turnout, with more than 1,900 people attending and nearly 500 applications submitted by the end of the day.

According to CBP, job seekers moved from booth to booth meeting recruiters, learning about openings, and sharing their career goals. The agency said the day was about more than handing in a resume — it gave candidates a chance to speak directly with recruiters and hiring teams who could get to know the person behind the application.

CBP said many attendees discovered roles they hadn’t considered. “Not only are we the largest and the oldest federal law enforcement agency,” said Georgina Haig, a program manager in the Office of Field Operations, “but we have a wealth of supporting roles in our operation support that many people never even consider — cartographers, nurses, mechanics, HR specialists, administrative specialists, the list really does go on and on.”

Part of a Nationwide Push

The agency said the Jacksonville event reflects a broader recruiting effort. According to CBP, it has hosted more than 1,400 in-person events across the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico this year, along with about 90 virtual events, resulting in more than 140,000 people joining its Talent Network to connect with recruiters.

CBP encouraged anyone considering a future recruiting event to take the step. “We have many vacancies throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and the Virgin Islands,” said Sean Driscoll, Director of Recruiting for Air and Marine Operations. “If you want something exciting that’s going to make you feel, when you go home at the end of the day, like you made a difference, CBP is the place for you.”

People interested in CBP careers can learn about openings and connect with a recruiter through the agency’s Talent Network at join.cbp.gov.
