300-plus artists, live music on multiple stages, fair food, kids’ rides, and 51 years of Central Texas tradition — the Pecan Street Festival returns to the Hill Country Galleria on May 9 and 10.

Austin knows how to celebrate art, and the Pecan Street Festival is proof. For 51 years, this free two-day celebration has brought together hundreds of juried artists, live music, and the kind of fair energy that turns a weekend afternoon into a full-day adventure. This spring it returns to the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave — bigger, better, and still completely free.

What’s Waiting for You

The festival floor spans every medium imaginable — metalwork, woodwork, fiber, clay, leather, glass, stone, repurposed materials, original paintings, sculpture, handmade jewelry, home goods, and prints. Every artist is juried, meaning the quality bar is real. You won’t find mass-produced imports here. What you find is original work made by hand, sold by the people who made it.

Beyond the art, the Pecan Street Festival has that unmistakable state fair energy. Rides and activities keep the kids occupied while adults browse. Fried food, packaged goods to take home, street snacks, and fair favorites fill the food corridor. Live music runs almost continuously across multiple stages both days — from the moment the gates open through closing time Saturday night.

A Festival With a Conscience

The Pecan Street Festival has a longstanding commitment to sustainability that sets it apart from most events of its size. The festival diverts waste through on-site recycling, uses chemical-free restrooms, collects used cooking oil to convert into biofuel for the generators, and specifically platforms vendors with sustainable values. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own bags, recycle throughout the day, and carpool to the Galleria.
