Ciao, Irving! Your Taste Buds Are About to Take a Trip to Italy This Saturday
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Imagine walking through Italy’s 20 wine regions in a single afternoon, sampling everything from crisp Pinot Grigio in the north to bold Aglianico in the south, all while learning the stories behind each sip. This Saturday, August 16th, you don’t need a passport or plane ticket – just head to Lamberti’s Ristorante in Irving for their farewell Ferragosto celebration.

This isn’t just any wine tasting. It’s the fourth and final time Lamberti’s will host this beloved event in their current location before relocating, making this your last chance to experience this unique celebration in the space where it all began.

A 2,000-Year-Old Party Gets the Texas Treatment

Ferragosto traces its roots back to 18 BC when Emperor Augustus established “Feriae Augusti” (Augustus’ Holidays) to celebrate military victories and give agricultural workers a well-deserved rest after the harvest. The tradition marked the end of the harvest season, when friends and family gathered to enjoy the fruits of their labor, and it coincides with Assumption Day in the Catholic calendar.

While Italians traditionally celebrate beachside with watermelon slices, Lamberti’s brings this ancient festival indoors with wine, food, and blessed air conditioning – because this is Texas in August, after all.

Your Italian Wine Journey Awaits

Here’s what makes this special: you’re not just tasting random wines. You’re taking a guided tour through every single region of Italy, with knowledgeable staff sharing the stories, traditions, and unique characteristics that make each area’s wines distinctive.

Your $35 ticket includes 20 curated tastings paired with authentic Italian bites. Think of it as the most affordable trip to Italy you’ll ever take, with the bonus of being able to purchase bottles of your new favorites to take home.

Perfect for Families Too

Bringing the kids? They get their own celebration with face painting, sidewalk chalk, and all the watermelon they can eat – staying true to the traditional Ferragosto treat. At just $10 for children over 2, it’s a family-friendly way to introduce young ones to Italian culture and traditions.

More Than Just Wine

Local Italian vendors will showcase imported pantry staples, small-batch olive oils, and artisan goods that let you take home authentic flavors beyond the bottle. It’s your chance to stock up on ingredients that’ll transport your kitchen to Tuscany or Sicily.

Why This Saturday Matters

This celebration represents something special – it’s Lamberti’s love letter to Italian tradition and their farewell to a location that’s hosted countless celebrations. You’re not just attending a wine tasting; you’re becoming part of the restaurant’s history while connecting to a tradition that spans two millennia.

Whether you’re a wine enthusiast eager to explore lesser-known Italian varietals, a food lover curious about authentic flavors, or a family looking for a unique cultural experience, Ferragosto offers something that typical wine tastings can’t: a genuine celebration rooted in history and community.

Book your time slot now, bring your appetite for discovery, and prepare for an afternoon that’ll have you saying “Salute!” to both ancient Roman tradition and modern Irving hospitality. Arrivederci to ordinary Saturday afternoons – this is how Italians have been celebrating summer for over 2,000 years, and now you get to join the party.
