WASHINGTON — The Department of Homeland Security highlighted a series of recent deportations of criminal illegal aliens with histories including homicide, carjacking, and burglary, tying the removals to nationwide crime statistics it says show significant declines in the first half of 2026, according to a DHS release.

Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said crime has fallen to record lows under the Trump administration, with homicides on pace for their lowest level in at least 126 years. Bis said the drop in crime coincides with the deportation of dangerous criminal illegal aliens, calling the connection common sense.

According to DHS, crime statistics for the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year show homicides down 18%, carjackings down 47%, motor vehicle thefts down 20%, robberies down 17%, and residential burglaries down 13%.

Among those recently deported, according to the release, was Melvin Mauricio Valencia Gil, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador and Latin Kings gang member, deported July 21 with a criminal history that includes convictions for homicide, assault, and weapons possession. Hoa Van Tran, a criminal illegal alien from Vietnam and Tiny Rascals gang member, was deported July 28 following a homicide conviction and an arrest for drug trafficking. Hector Lopez Mendoza, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico and Surenos gang member, was deported July 27 with convictions for homicide and aggravated assault with a gun. Olegario Ramirez, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico and Paisas gang member, was deported the same day following a homicide conviction and illegal re-entry.

Several others were deported following burglary and property crime convictions. Michael Fernando Robaya Pulido, from Colombia, was deported July 15 with a larceny conviction and a burglary arrest. Joseph Gustavo Vega Ramirez, from Costa Rica, was deported July 16 following convictions for burglary, drug possession, property crimes, and disorderly conduct. Marcus Aurelio Silva Corea, from Nicaragua, was deported July 24 with convictions for burglary, larceny, drug possession, and illegal re-entry. Miguel Ozuna Soler, a Trinitarios gang member from the Dominican Republic, was deported July 21 following convictions for burglary, larceny, receiving stolen property, drug offenses, obstructing police, and selling heroin.

Robbery-related deportations included Jared Adonay Cruz-Rivera, a Tren de Aragua gang member from Honduras, deported July 18 following a robbery conviction. Bulmaro Rendon-Ramos, a Surenos gang member from Mexico, was deported July 27 with convictions for robbery, burglary, and four counts of driving under the influence. Nammoun Khampanya, a Crips gang member from Laos, was deported July 28 following convictions for cocaine possession, weapons possession, fraud, and obstructing police.

Several deportations involved armed carjacking convictions. Diego Alexander Galeano Paz, from Mexico, was deported July 3 with convictions for armed carjacking, vehicle theft, and carrying a prohibited weapon. Sang Tran, from Vietnam, was deported July 28 following an armed carjacking conviction. Marc James Guerrier Pinard, from Haiti, was deported July 16 with three armed carjacking convictions and a burglary arrest. Jose Antonio Lopez Gomez, from Mexico, was deported July 6 following convictions for armed carjacking, robbery, and driving under the influence.

Additional deportations tied to vehicle theft included Luis Alberto Araujo-Montellano, a Westside Playboys gang member from Mexico, deported July 13 with a vehicle theft conviction. Abin Lester Cordova-Rodriguez, from Guatemala, was deported July 23 following a felony vehicle theft conviction. Omar Loaces Gonzalez, from Cuba, was deported July 17 with convictions for vehicle theft and wire fraud. Anndy Ruben Lobo Tabora, from Honduras, was deported July 15 following a felony vehicle theft conviction. Raudy Corniel Paulino Diaz, from the Dominican Republic, was deported July 21 with arrests for vehicle theft and receiving stolen property.

DHS noted that arrests referenced in the release reflect charges brought against these individuals and are separate from the specific convictions cited in each case.
