AUSTIN, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott has announced that 36 Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) grants totaling more than $8.6 million have been awarded to 32 organizations across Dallas-Fort Worth and North Texas. These grants, part of the Texas Veterans Commission’s (TVC) Grants Across Texas program, will provide crucial support to over 10,900 veterans and their families throughout 30 counties.
“Texas proudly houses more veterans than any other state,” said Governor Abbott. “These grants will offer financial aid and essential services to the brave men and women who served our nation. From clinical counseling and home modifications to service dog programs, Texas will always honor the sacrifices made by our veterans.”
The grant awards were presented at Patriot PAWS Service Dogs in Rockwall and Meals on Wheels Tarrant County in Haltom City.
These marked the seventh and eighth stops in the TVC’s ongoing Grants Across Texas series, which will continue through October.

- Volunteers of America, Texas: a $295,000 grant for financial assistance
These grants are part of the larger initiative announced in May, which saw over $44 million in funding allocated to 161 organizations across Texas.
It is estimated that the program will provide direct services to nearly 41,000 veterans, their dependents, and surviving spouses.
Since 2009, over $313 million has been distributed through 1,400 FVA grants, supporting services like emergency financial aid, legal assistance, and housing support. The Texas Veterans Commission funds these programs primarily through the Texas Lottery Commission’s veteran-designated games, alongside donations collected through state licenses and vehicle registrations.
