Mark your calendar one more time, neighbor. The McKinney Asian Art and Food Festival got pushed back by severe weather, but it’s officially back on, and honestly, the wait just means you’ve got more time to show up hungry.
Head to McKinney City Hall on Friday, October 9, from 5 to 9 p.m., or Saturday, October 10, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free, parking is easy, and you can bring the whole family, kids included.
Here’s what you’re walking into: real Asian street food from China, Japan, India, and Thailand, the kind of dishes that make you forget you already ate lunch. Live performances fill the evening with music and dance you won’t catch anywhere else in Collin County. Artists and craft vendors line the walkways, and if you want something more hands-on, don’t skip the tea ceremony, it’s a quiet, beautiful break from the festival energy and genuinely worth the few minutes it takes.
This year’s theme is Pinwheel, 风调雨顺, a phrase that roughly wishes good weather and good fortune, which feels pretty fitting after a storm pushed the whole thing back a week.
The festival started small, just one day back in spring 2025, built by the Texas Women Society specifically to connect McKinney’s fast-growing Asian community with the rest of the city. Collin County is nearly 19% Asian, and this festival gives that community a real stage, not just a row of food trucks, but actual cultural performances, art, and music that tell the story behind the food.
Bring cash for the vendors, bring an appetite, and bring your curiosity. This is the kind of afternoon that turns into your new favorite fall tradition.
