What Is Sloomoo Institute?
Sloomoo was founded by two best friends who discovered that playing with slime brought genuine joy and stress relief during some of the hardest moments of their lives. That personal discovery grew into a mission: deliver joy to everyone, of every age. The result is a one-of-a-kind sensory experience built around over 500 gallons of handmade slime, more than 13 interactive stations, and the world’s largest DIY slime bar with over 4 million possible combinations.
You can walk on 300 gallons of slime at Lake Sloomoo, smush slime onto an ever-growing wall, slingshot slime across the room, get lost in an ASMR sound bath, and turn yourself into a slimey avatar in the black-light Slimey Mirrors cove. The signature upgrade — Sloomoo Falls — rains actual slime down on you from above. Ponchos are provided.
The experience runs 60 to 90 minutes and is self-guided, with staff called Slimetenders stationed throughout every activity.
What’s Inside the Houston Location
The Houston Sloomoo Institute brings a full lineup of slimescapes specifically designed for this location, including Groov’s Groovy Grove — a Houston-exclusive sonic journey where every slime you touch triggers music, from synth to drums to cowbell, all in day-glow lighting. Along with the full gallery of slime textures — butter, clear, cloud, floam, icee, jelly, snow fizz, and more — Houston guests also get the Squishy Pit, FrooFroo’s Feels (a blindfolded sensory experience), Satisfying Sand, Scentscapes with 60 scents to choose from, Planet Sloo’s CGI slime videos, and a full Sloomoo Shop stocked with slime, merch, squishies, and sensory toys.
Is It Safe?
Yes — and Sloomoo is completely transparent about what goes into their slime. The main ingredients are glue, borax, all-natural lotion, and skin-grade fragrance oils and pigments. Borax is a naturally occurring mineral used in everyday products including contact lens solution — less than 0.06 ounces is used per 8-ounce batch. There is no gluten, dairy, or nuts in any slime or ingredients, including scents. The one exception: Sloomoo Falls uses a drippy slime made in a facility where nuts may be packaged, so guests with severe or airborne nut allergies may want to skip that station.
Sloomoo also partnered with researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to study their slime’s environmental impact. The result: all Sloomoo slime is biodegradable and compostable under industrial heat conditions.
The bottom line: completely safe to touch. Just don’t eat it.
Does the Slime Get Dirty?
Sloomoo takes cleanliness seriously. Slime vats are inspected daily and changed regularly. Hand-washing stations and alcohol wipes are available throughout the experience. If slime gets on clothing — which is possible — it comes off most fabrics with white vinegar and hot water. Apply vinegar generously, let it sit 30 seconds, wipe away the excess, then rinse with hot water. Repeat as needed.
What to Know Before You Go
All guests must complete a waiver before arriving — the link is included in your confirmation email. Anyone without a signed waiver will not be admitted. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a guardian who is at least 16 years old.
The Houston location is fully single-level, so all activities are accessible without stairs or elevators. Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome. Noise-cancelling headphones are available on request. Sensory-Friendly Hours — with limited capacity, no loud music, and quieter stations — are offered regularly and marked with blue dots on the ticketing calendar.
Wear clothes you wouldn’t mind getting messy. Roll your sleeves up, pull long hair back, and wear shoes you can easily remove. Food is not allowed in the experience area — eat before you arrive. Sealed water bottles are welcome.
Tickets are non-refundable but can be rescheduled up to four hours before your visit. Pricing is demand-based, so booking early gets you the best rates. Groups of 10 or more receive a 10% discount, and military families with valid ID also get 10% off.
