Everything really is bigger in Texas – including their winning streak! Governor Greg Abbott was practically doing a touchdown dance today as Texas snagged the coveted “Best Business Climate” title for the third consecutive year from Business Facilities magazine. At this point, they might as well just engrave “Texas” permanently on the trophy.
“Texas moves at the speed of business,” Abbott declared, probably while adjusting his metaphorical ten-gallon hat of economic triumph. And honestly, who’s going to argue with the eighth-largest economy in the world? That’s right – Texas doesn’t just compete with other states; it’s playing in the global big leagues alongside entire countries.
The Texas Recipe for Success
What’s the secret sauce that keeps companies flocking to the Lone Star State like tourists to a barbecue joint? Abbott laid out the irresistible menu:
Zero corporate income tax (because why should businesses pay when they can invest instead?) Zero personal income tax (keeping more money in Texans’ pockets) A workforce so skilled and diverse it could probably run NASA (oh wait, they already do) Global market access that makes international business feel like a neighborly chat Infrastructure so robust it could probably survive a zombie apocalypse Regulations so reasonable they don’t make lawyers weep
The Numbers Don’t Lie
While other states were busy debating, Texas was busy doing – racking up over 1,300 qualified capital investment projects in 2024 alone. That’s more than three new projects every single day. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, more than 20 companies decided to pack up their corporate headquarters and make the move to Texas.
Talk about voting with your feet (and your entire C-suite).
The Winning Formula
Business Facilities magazine doesn’t just hand out awards like participation trophies at a Little League game. Their ranking considers the serious stuff: economic development achievements, capital investment announcements, job creation, economic strength, regulatory climate, infrastructure quality, and workforce availability.
Texas didn’t just check these boxes – they apparently drew smiley faces next to each one.
Abbott credited the Texas Legislature for what he called “the most successful legislative session” that pushed through pro-growth policies and enhanced government efficiency. The results? Benefits that will keep Texas businesses and entrepreneurs happy “for decades.”
At this rate, other states might want to start taking notes. Or better yet, they could just move to Texas – apparently, that’s what everyone else is doing.
