Attorney General Ken Paxton isn’t messing around. He’s launching a full investigation into Mars candy company for doing something that’ll make your blood boil: removing toxic dyes from their European candy but keeping them in the stuff they sell to American families.

The Double Standard That’s Got Texas Fired Up

Here’s what happened: Back in 2016, Mars made a big public promise to remove all artificial colors from their food. Sounds great, right?

Plot twist: They actually DID remove the toxic dyes… but only from candy sold in Europe. American kids? Still getting the sketchy artificial colors that Europe won’t allow.

Talk about a slap in the face to Texas families.

What These Dyes Are Actually Doing to Your Kids

Mars tried to claim these artificial colors are totally safe. But here’s what the research actually shows these dyes are linked to:

  • ADHD – That hyperactivity driving you crazy? Could be the candy.
  • Autism – Emerging connections that every parent should know about
  • Cancer – The big C word that nobody wants to hear

If these dyes are dangerous enough for European kids to avoid, why are they still okay for your Texas kids?

Your Grocery Cart Just Got Political

This isn’t just about candy – it’s about respect. When companies think American families deserve lower standards than European families, that’s when Texas steps in.

The investigation is already working: General Mills just announced they’re removing toxic dyes after Paxton put the heat on them. Now it’s Mars’ turn.

What This Means for Your Family Right Now

Check your pantry. Those colorful treats your kids love? They might be packed with stuff that other countries won’t even allow. Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 1 – if you see these on the ingredients, that’s what we’re talking about.

European Mars candy uses natural colors like turmeric and beetroot. American Mars candy uses synthetic laboratory chemicals. Same company, same candy, totally different standards.

The Bigger Picture: Texas Leading the Fight

This isn’t just Paxton going rogue. He’s working alongside national leaders who are sick of big food companies treating American families like second-class citizens.

Recent wins include:

  • General Mills removing toxic dyes after Texas pressure
  • Growing momentum for food companies to clean up their act
  • A nationwide movement putting families first

What You Can Do This Weekend

Vote with your wallet. Hit up the candy aisle and start reading labels. Companies change when their sales drop, not when politicians make speeches.

Tell your friends. Share this story with other parents. When enough Texas families know what’s happening, companies listen.

Support the investigation. When Paxton’s office asks for documents from Mars, they’re fighting for your family’s right to know what’s really in that candy.

The Texas Way

Here’s what makes this investigation so Texas: We don’t accept being treated like we’re worth less than Europeans. We don’t accept companies lying to our faces about safety. And we definitely don’t accept our kids getting the toxic leftovers while other countries get the clean stuff.

Bottom line: Mars made a promise in 2016 to remove artificial colors. They kept that promise in Europe but broke it in America. Now Texas is making sure they know that’s not how we do business.

Your kids deserve the same safe candy that European kids get. It’s that simple.

Want to follow this investigation? Keep an eye on the Texas AG’s office for updates on what documents Mars hands over and whether they finally clean up their American candy.
