Abbott to Sign $10 Billion Property Tax Relief Package Into Law

Still shot of Governor Abbott Announces Property Tax Relief An Emergency Item

If creating jobs were an Olympic sport, Texas would need a bigger trophy case. Governor Greg Abbott was practically bursting with pride today as he announced that Texas has once again claimed the crown as America’s #1 job creator – both for last month AND the entire past year. At this point, other states might want to ask Texas for their playbook.

The numbers are almost ridiculous: Texas has churned out more than 2.53 million jobs since Abbott took the governor’s mansion. That’s not just impressive – that’s “Holy cow, how did they do that?” territory.

“America’s Undisputed Jobs Engine”

“Texas is America’s undisputed jobs engine,” Abbott declared, and honestly, who’s going to dispute him? The man’s got receipts, and they’re written in Bureau of Labor Statistics ink.

The governor credited the Texas Legislature for what he called “the most successful legislative session” that pushed through pro-growth policies, expanded career and technical training programs, and – here’s the kicker – actually removed unnecessary red tape instead of adding more. Revolutionary concept, right?

“The policies I signed into law mean more paychecks and more opportunities for Texas families to thrive,” Abbott added. Translation: While other places debate, Texas delivers.

The Jaw-Dropping Numbers

Let’s talk specifics, because these figures are worth bragging about:

May 2025 alone: Texas added 28,100 nonfarm jobs – more than any other state managed in an entire month.

Year-over-year growth: From May 2024 to May 2025, Texas created 213,300 jobs while continuing to outpace the national growth rate like a Ferrari passing a bicycle.

Abbott era total: More than 2.53 million jobs created since the governor took office. That’s roughly the entire population of Chicago getting new employment opportunities.

Breaking Records Like It’s a Hobby

As if dominating monthly and yearly job creation wasn’t enough, last week Abbott was already celebrating Texas shattering all previous records for:

  • Total jobs in the state
  • Number of Texans working
  • Size of the Texas labor force

At this rate, Texas isn’t just leading the pack – they’re lapping it.

The Texas Formula

What’s the secret? While other states get tangled up in bureaucratic knots, Texas keeps it simple: create business-friendly policies, invest in training programs, and get the government out of the way. The result? Companies flock to Texas like tourists to South by Southwest, bringing jobs and paychecks with them.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn’t lie, and right now, those statistics are singing Texas’s praises louder than a honky-tonk on Saturday night.

Other states, take note: This is what economic momentum looks like. And Texas? They’re just getting started.

With numbers like these, don’t be surprised if “Texas-sized job growth” becomes the new standard measurement for economic success.a
