What You’re Getting Into
This isn’t just any dance party—it’s “Boots in the Park,” presented by Wild Bill’s Western Store. Expect special line dance performances from various groups throughout the evening, plus all the classic dance floor favorites that get everyone moving.
The event comes with everything you need for a perfect summer evening:
- Food trucks serving up everything from BBQ to funnel cakes
- A dedicated kid zone so families can enjoy the fun together
- Cooling stations because August in Dallas is no joke
- Handmade craft vendors for unique finds
- Tents and lawn chairs allowed so you can set up your own base camp
The Perfect Venue
Old City Park holds a special place in Dallas history as the city’s first park, established in 1876 when James J. Eakins donated ten acres of land south of downtown Dallas for public use. By 1881, the city had acquired additional acres that included Browder Springs—Dallas’s first public water supply—making it a favorite spot for family outings, flower shows, and band concerts in the late 19th century.
Today, the 22-acre park contains original buildings, artifacts, and historical items that provide a glimpse into 19th century Texas life. So when you’re line dancing on Saturday night, you’ll literally be dancing where Dallas families have been gathering for nearly 150 years.

The Boots in the Park Tradition
While this might be your first time hearing about Boots in the Park, line dancing has deep roots in Texas culture. It’s one of those activities that brings together people of all ages and skill levels—from grandparents teaching grandkids the Electric Slide to teenagers showing off the latest TikTok-inspired moves.
The beauty of line dancing is that everyone’s doing the same steps at the same time. No partner required, no complicated choreography to memorize. Just follow along and have fun.
Why Saturday Night Matters
After a long week, sometimes you need to do something that gets you moving and connects you with your community. Line dancing does both. Plus, there’s something uniquely Texas about putting on your boots, heading to a historic park, and dancing under the stars with your neighbors.
The $5 entry fee is basically the cost of a fancy coffee drink, but this gives you four hours of entertainment, a dance lesson, live performances, and access to food trucks in one of Dallas’s most beautiful historic settings.
Getting There: Old City Park is right off I-35 and I-30, making it easy to reach from anywhere in the metroplex. Free parking available.
Pro tip: Bring cash for the food trucks and vendors, wear comfortable boots (or at least comfortable shoes), and don’t be shy about jumping into the line dances. Everyone started as a beginner, and the Dallas line dance community is known for being welcoming to newcomers.
This Saturday, trade your usual Netflix night for boot-scooting under the Texas sky. Your feet might be sore Sunday morning, but you’ll have stories to tell and maybe some new dance moves to show off.
