On July 20, former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump attended his first rally since the assassination attempt by gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks. Trump and selected VP Nominee JD Vance addressed an enthusiastic crowd at the rally held at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on Saturday.

Trump spoke to the MAGA crowd and stressed, “We’re a failing nation,” and “We cannot let it slip by. We cannot let people cheat. Or we’re not going to have a country.”

“We will never stop working to deliver a magnificent future for our people and together we will fight, fight, fight,” cheered Trump.

Trump’s campaign security remains on high alert since the Pennsylvania shooting, with other assassination plots continuing to surface.

The United States intelligence received word on an Iranian plot to assassinate the former president just days following the assassination attempt during the Pennsylvania rally that killed a spectator and critically injured two others. CNN reported on Tuesday that individuals briefed on the supposed plot said an unidentified source exposed the plan.

The same CNN report made clear that there was no indication that the shooting of Trump by gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks on Saturday was connected to the Iranian plot.

A CNN reporter posted on X, that a U.S. national security official said The U.S. Secret Service and Trump’s campaign were made aware of the plot ahead of Saturday’s rally.

On Wednesday, Iranian officials rejected “malicious” reports of an alleged plot to assassinate former President Donald Trump, saying the Islamic nation seeks a “legal path to bring him to justice” for ordering the assassination of an Iranian general in 2020.

During an interview on “Hannity ” live from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee,

Donald Trump Jr. surprised listeners by calling reports that Iran plotted to have his father killed as being “maybe the greatest political endorsement ever.”

The assassination attempts don’t seem to be slowing down the momentum of Trump’s Republican campaign. Now it’s just a waiting game to see who will be the democratic contender.

“Interestingly, Kamala Harris is now showing stronger election odds than Joe Biden. This shift suggests that the Democratic base might be looking for a fresh face or a different direction. Whether Harris, Biden, or another candidate ultimately becomes the Democratic nominee will significantly influence the dynamics of the race,” said Josh Thompson, Founder and CEO of Impact Health USA and Impact Health University.

Thompson says this election will likely see impacts from the recent events.

“The recent assassination attempt at Trump’s rally is a stark reminder of the volatile political climate. Such incidents can galvanize a candidate’s base and evoke a strong emotional response from the electorate. The attempt on Trump’s life could potentially strengthen his support as his followers rally in solidarity and outrage.”

Trump’s next rally will occur on Wednesday, July 24, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
