Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign saw significant gains across the nation, with voters shifting further to the right, helping him secure a decisive win. Compared to the 2020 election, Trump flipped more than 60 counties from blue to red this time around, and saw improved performance in 90% of counties where at least 95% of votes were counted.

In Texas, 239 of the state’s 254 counties moved rightward, according to an analysis of Associated Press voting data. Notably, Trump flipped 10 counties that had backed Joe Biden in 2020, including key battlegrounds like Williamson and Tarrant Counties—the two most closely contested counties in the state in 2020—as well as a significant number of counties along the southern border.

Trump’s margin of victory in Texas grew substantially. In 2020, he won the state by six percentage points, or roughly 631,000 votes. This year, he defeated Biden by 14 points, with a margin of approximately 938,000 votes, based on the AP’s final tally.

In contrast, Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris, failed to surpass Biden’s performance in any of the 22 counties that had supported the Democrats four years ago.
