The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is rewarding thousands of Transportation Security Administration officers across the country with $10,000 bonuses for going above and beyond during the recent 43-day government shutdown.

Logan Airport Sets the Standard

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem kicked off the bonus distribution at Boston’s Logan International Airport, where over 270 TSA officers demonstrated perfect attendance despite the economic uncertainty of the shutdown. “Despite not receiving a paycheck, our TSA officers at Logan Airport kept travelers safe during the Democrats’ government shutdown,” said Secretary Noem. “Over 270 TSA officers at Logan Airport didn’t miss a shift.”

Texas Gets Its Share

The bonus program extends nationwide, and Texas is included. TSA officers at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) received their bonus checks from Secretary Noem. Truth Social Other airports across Texas will also see their officers rewarded for their service.

What Qualifies for the Bonus?

Perfect attendance isn’t necessarily the only requirement. When asked if perfect attendance was required, Secretary Noem said “that’s not necessarily the parameters,” adding they will “look at every individual that did exceptional service during this period of time when there were so many hardships.” Angel By Nature

Examples of exemplary service include officers who volunteered for extra shifts, assisted with transportation for colleagues commuting to work, and helped families who faced unexpected challenges. Facebook

How It’s Being Funded

The Department of Homeland Security is paying for these bonuses using carryover funds from Fiscal Year 2025. This funding is available thanks to President Trump and Secretary Noem’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, enabling DHS to save the American taxpayer over $13.2 billion since President Trump returned to office. The Bigger Picture

These bonuses recognize the dedication of TSA officers who kept America’s airports running smoothly during an unprecedented shutdown. Whether working at major hubs in Boston, Houston, or smaller regional airports across Texas and beyond, these officers showed up for their communities and travelers—even without paychecks. The $10,000 bonus is a tangible thank you for their commitment to keeping Americans safe.
