Mariachi music, Lotería games, local vendors, and authentic food come together for one free, family-friendly night celebrating Mexican culture at Navigation Esplanade.

The Esplanade, Houston — Friday, September 18, 2026, 6-10 p.m.

Houston’s East End is about to get a little louder, a little brighter, and a lot more festive this September. The Viva México & Lotería Market brings a full evening of Mexican culture, music, and community shopping to The Esplanade, located at 2800 Navigation Blvd, with admission free for anyone who wants to stop by.

The night runs from 6 to 10 p.m., with live mariachi performances taking the spotlight from 7 to 8 p.m. right in the middle of the evening. Beyond the music, the event centers around Lotería, the beloved Mexican bingo-style game played with colorful illustrated cards featuring icons like La Dama, La Rosa, El Corazón, El Gallo, and La Estrella. Whether you grew up playing Lotería with family or you’re trying it for the first time, the game brings a playful, communal energy that’s been part of Mexican celebrations for generations.

Local shopping is a big part of the draw too. The market brings together local vendors selling handmade goods, artesanías, and specialty items, alongside food vendors serving up authentic Mexican dishes throughout the evening. Add in photo opportunities set against vibrant papel picado banners and festive Día de los Muertos-inspired decor, and the whole event doubles as a great backdrop for capturing the night with family and friends.

The event is presented by Almeda Marketplace, a Houston-based community market known for building a family-first vendor culture across its pop-up shops, farmers markets, and flea market events throughout the city. True to that mission, the Viva México & Lotería Market is billed as family-friendly from the ground up, with música, artesanías, comida, and diversión, meaning music, crafts, food, and fun, all promised across the night.

Navigation Esplanade has become something of a go-to spot for Houston’s Lotería-loving community, having hosted similar culturally themed gatherings at the venue before. This latest edition folds that same Lotería spirit into a full Mexican Independence Day-season celebration, giving families across Houston’s East End and beyond a reason to come out, shop local, and celebrate together.

Whether you’re coming for the mariachi, the Lotería cards, the food, or just a fun Friday night out with the family, the Viva México & Lotería Market offers a genuine, community-first way to celebrate Mexican culture right in the heart of Houston.
