MIDLAND, TEXAS — The Bush Family Home State Historic Site is inviting young Texans to step into the past this summer with its annual Bush Family Home Summer Camp, featuring themed educational days designed to spark curiosity and imagination.

The camp, held at 1412 W. Ohio Ave., Midland, TX, runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and will offer children a chance to explore American history in the very home where President George H. W. Bush once lived.

This year’s program includes a mix of history, science, and practical life skills. Themes include:

  • Cowboy Day

  • 1950s Games Day

  • Bicycle Safety Day

  • STEM Day — exploring the science and history behind vintage technology still present in the home

Camp Schedule by Grade Level

Grades K–2:

  • June 17 – Cowboy Day

  • June 19 – 1950s Games

  • July 22 – Bicycle Safety

  • July 24 – STEM

An Immersive Step into Presidential History

Visitors to the Bush Family Home walk the same halls once occupied by the 41st President of the United States, George H. W. Bush, during his early years. A stop at this historic site offers not only an intimate view into the daily life of a future president but also a powerful learning opportunity for children to see history come to life.

“These camps are a fun and meaningful way for kids to learn about the American story — not just through books, but by living it through interactive experiences,” said a spokesperson from the Bush Family Home.

Registration Information

Spots are limited and expected to fill quickly. Parents and guardians are encouraged to register early by emailing bushfamilyhome@thc.texas.gov or calling 432-685-1112.

Whether your child is a budding scientist, a little historian, or just ready for summer fun, the Bush Family Home Summer Camp offers a chance to expand their horizons while exploring the roots of one of America’s most influential families.
