U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced ten additional meat and poultry companies have adopted USDA’s voluntary Product of USA label, including a Texas company that says the move reflects a commitment to origin transparency and honest labeling for American consumers
WASHINGTON — Ten additional meat and poultry companies have adopted the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s voluntary Product of USA label, including Texas-based Fort Worth Meats, according to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins.
According to USDA, the Product of USA label is a voluntary designation available to companies whose meat, poultry, and egg products come from animals born, raised, harvested, and processed entirely within the United States. The label is intended to give consumers a clear way to identify products with fully domestic origins, according to the department.
The ten companies newly participating in the initiative, according to USDA, are:
Fort Worth Meats — Texas
Harris Ranch — California
One World Beef — California
Upper Iowa Beef — Iowa
American Foods Group — Multiple locations
Agri Beef — Idaho
FPL Food — Georgia
Hadrick Farms — South Dakota
Wholestone Farms — Nebraska
Harrison’s Poultry — Illinois
“President Trump has made it clear that when American families buy American products, they should know exactly what they’re getting,” Rollins said in a statement. “The Product of USA label gives consumers confidence that the meat, poultry, and egg products they purchase come from animals born, raised, harvested, and processed right here in the United States. Every new company that adopts this label represents another win for America’s ranchers, processors, and rural communities. USDA will continue working every day to strengthen domestic food production and ensure American agriculture remains the strongest in the world.”
The Texas participant: Fort Worth Meats
The Texas company joining the initiative, Fort Worth Meats, is led by founder and CEO Juan Ramos.
“Origin should never be a mystery. Consumers deserve labels they can trust, U.S. producers deserve recognition for what they produce, and every meat product should be represented honestly for what it is,” Ramos said in a statement. “Working from pasture to package gives us a unique appreciation for the responsibility behind every label. Honest representation honors the work of producers and gives consumers the confidence to know exactly what they’re buying.”
Other participating companies weigh in
According to USDA, several of the newly participating companies also released statements.
“We’re a four-generation family business, and since 1893 supporting this community has been at the heart of how we operate. As one of the smaller, family-owned names in the program, we’re proud to commit to the Product of USA label. It says plainly what’s always been true for us: our poultry is sourced and prepared right here in America, by a business that invests in the people and place it comes from,” Kyle Zimmerman, Co-President and Co-Owner of Harrison’s Poultry, said in a statement.
“Now more than ever, consumers deserve to know where their food comes from and to have confidence in the integrity of the products they purchase,” Eric Brandt, President of One World Beef, said in a statement. “The USDA Product of USA program creates a meaningful connection between American ranchers and the families they feed by recognizing producers who are committed to raising and processing livestock entirely within the United States. We are grateful for USDA’s leadership in strengthening transparency, supporting American agriculture, and helping preserve the future of independent ranching for generations to come.”
How the initiative fits into broader USDA strategy
According to USDA, the Product of USA labeling expansion complements a broader Trump administration and Rollins strategy to support independent ranchers, family farmers, and small- and mid-sized meat processors. The department framed the goal as creating new market opportunities for products that are, in USDA’s language, “fully American from pasture to plate.”
The department also pointed to the Strengthening Processing for U.S. Ranchers (SPUR) Program — a USDA initiative announced last month that will provide up to $500 million to eligible small- and mid-sized beef processors to preserve and expand domestic processing capacity. According to USDA, several companies participating in the Product of USA initiative are expected to also benefit from SPUR funding.
USDA said it continues to receive strong interest from additional processors, with more companies expected to adopt the Product of USA label in the coming months.
Why this matters for Texas consumers
Here’s the practical takeaway for Texas readers. The Product of USA label is one of the clearest ways to identify meat and poultry that is fully American from birth through processing. Texas has one of the largest cattle industries in the country, and Fort Worth Meats’ participation means Texas shoppers can now look for the Product of USA label on meat products carried by a Texas processor when they shop at the grocery store, at butcher counters, or at specialty retailers.
Not every product labeled “Made in USA” meets the same standard. The USDA Product of USA label specifically requires that animals be born, raised, harvested, and processed entirely within the United States — a stricter standard than some other origin claims. For Texas consumers who prioritize buying local, supporting American ranchers, or knowing the full origin of their food, this label offers a clearer way to make that choice at the shelf.
