A major law enforcement operation in Plum Grove, Texas, resulted in the arrest of 118 individuals suspected of being in the country illegally, including an alleged MS-13 gang member wanted for murder.
Led by ICE, Texas DPS, Homeland Security, and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, the operation targeted criminal networks. Among those detained was 34-year-old Luis Miguel Perez-Miranda of El Salvador, accused of killing a man in the Colony Ridge neighborhood near Houston. Despite being deported six times—most recently in March 2023—Perez-Miranda unlawfully reentered the U.S. His criminal history includes drug trafficking, drug possession, and illegal entry offenses.
ICE Houston Field Office Director Bret Bradford commended the swift response, stating that without law enforcement intervention, the suspect “would still be at large, posing a threat to the community.”
Colony Ridge, a large development near Houston, has been linked to cartel activity and has attracted thousands of undocumented immigrants. Texas Governor Greg Abbott emphasized that the operation was part of a broader effort to dismantle criminal networks in the region.
ICE confirmed that those arrested face charges for offenses including homicide, child sexual abuse, drug crimes, and weapons violations. Former Border Patrol chief Tom Homan stated that while the operation targeted high-priority suspects, anyone in the country illegally remains at risk of deportation.
