Rational Thinking on The Phenomenon of God’s Existence

Humanity has had a tradition of believing in God for thousands of years. As the saying goes, “If you raise your head three feet high, there will be gods.” Of course, the concept of “gods” here is very broad. Any form of advanced intelligent life that is beyond what is visible to the naked eye can easily be considered a “god”.

In traditional Chinese culture, “Buddha, Tao, and God” are often interpreted as beings with “great wisdom and supernatural powers”. In Western culture, “God” is often interpreted as beings with “omniscience and omnipotence.”

No matter which interpretation is used, “Gods” are considered to have extraordinary abilities and wisdom, and are intelligent beings that are more advanced than humans. So for the convenience of discussion in this chapter, we will simply use the word “God” to refer to intelligent life at this level and even higher.

2.1 Modern Science Cannot Deny the Existence of God

Many people do not believe in the existence of God because they cannot see Him. This is the “seeing is believing” thinking model instilled in people by empirical science, which hinders people’s recognition of the truth.

In fact, the existence of God does not depend on whether human eyes can see it, because the objects that human eyes can see are very limited. Molecules cannot be seen by the human eye, yet people do not deny the existence of molecules.

Human eyes can see the colors of  red, orange, yellow, green, indigo, violet and other colors of light, but infrared, ultraviolet, X-rays, etc. are also real but can human eyes see them? No. They are invisible but they are still there.

Just as human ears can hear a certain range of sounds, but ultrasonic waves, infrasound waves, radio waves, etc. which are also real, can our ears hear them? No, they’re inaudible, but they are still there.

Suppose you take a meter stick with an accuracy of one centimeter and a length of one meter. Can you measure the size of bacteria or viruses? It is impossible. Can you use it to measure the distance from the sun to the earth? You can’t.

Therefore, with the current empirical scientific methods, people’s understanding of the entire universe is still quite superficial. There are many unknown things in the universe, which are more complex and vast than what human senses can see or what science and technology can detect. Because the empirical scientific method system determines its inherent limitations, it is impossible to know the fundamental truth of the universe.

The visible universe recognized by modern astronomy, that is, the stars, galaxies, etc. that can be detected by human eyes or instruments, only accounts for a small part of the total universe. Most of the rest is unknown dark matter and dark energy. Dark matter and dark energy cannot be directly seen or detected with our eyes or our state-of-the-art instruments. Scientists can only understand their nature and impact through indirect methods.

Dark matter and dark energy are there, affecting the operation of galaxies and the structure of the universe with an invisible force. Although our human understanding of dark matter and dark energy is very limited, we cannot deny their existence because of the limitations of our present human science.

By the same token, current science cannot deny the possibility of higher-level beings existing in the universe due to limitations in detection methods. For example, many people who have had near-death experiences have described encountering high-level beings.

Confucius said: “Knowing is knowing, not knowing is not knowing, it is knowing.”

Scientists who truly have the spirit of truth-seeking have a broad view of the universe and will not use their limited “known” to deny the infinite “unknown”. A common metaphor in the scientific community is to compare a person’s knowledge to the area of ​​a circle. The greater his knowledge, the larger the outside part of his circle is exposed to. In other words, the more he knows, the more he knows. The more we know, humans should become more and more humble in the process of exploration.

As a higher-level intelligent life recognized by human beings, the existence of God does not conflict with any human experience or logic. Although the existence of God is currently invisible to the human eye, we can see traces of “God” in the universe from the precise design of everything in the universe to the exquisite complexity of the human body.

2.2 The Precise Design of All Things Suggests the Existence of a Creator

Whether it is a highly knowledgeable scientist or an illiterate poor man, whether it is a prominent official or a homeless beggar, we only need to put aside our prejudices and use reason to think and observe the world in which we live. Only then will we be able to discover many proofs of the Creator’s existence.

When we walk into a museum and see a beautiful oil painting or an exquisite human sculpture, we will naturally conclude that these were designed and painted by a real artist because the paints, brushes and materials do not organize themselves and arrange themselves by chance to form such a work. When you walk into a splendid theater and see the exquisite and luxurious decorations, dazzling chandeliers, majestic columns, vivid sculptures and neatly arranged seats, one may wonder how did this theater come into being?

You would naturally conclude that this was designed and built by intelligent life, because the materials that make up all the components do not randomly splice themselves together to form a theater, but require intelligent and capable subjects to design and manufacture them.

We don’t need to see these creators in person to determine their existence, because we have already seen their works!

When we walk into a magnificent theater, we will naturally conclude that it was designed and built by intelligent life.

The same goes for everything on earth, including humans. The exquisite complexity of life reminds us of the existence of the Creator. In the universe that we humans can currently understand, from macroscopic celestial bodies and galaxies to microscopic atomic structures, almost all materials in the universe embody precise and strict design concepts.

The 17th-century physicist Newton pointed out that in the solar system and other star systems, the planets have the right mass, orbit at the right distance from the sun, and rotate at the right rate, and the sun emits the right light and heat to the planets. , and at the same time, the earth also has conditions suitable for human habitation–and all of this can only be realized through the careful design of advanced intelligent life–the Creator . 

Modern physics has learned that the various basic forces in the universe, including gravity, strong force, weak force and electromagnetic force, must coordinate with each other to ensure the existence of life. Adjusting even one of them may lead to the inability of matter or life as we see it today. For example, if the gravitational constant is larger, black holes will be everywhere in the universe; if the gravitational constant is smaller, galaxies such as the ones we live in will not be able to form.

In the microscopic world, for example, the structure of the atomic nucleus requires a precise balance of various conditions before a stable atomic nucleus can be formed, and then stable material elements can be presented, further forming a rich and colorful material world. 

Planets in the universe require such precise design, and even more so a living body. Every life in the biological world, including humble bacteria, also has the structure and function of intelligent design.

In the second half of the 20th century, people were able to see at the molecular level the complex structures inside cells that make up life, and found that cells are filled with various delicately operating molecular machines, such as human hearing, vision, smell, taste, perception, blood flow, respiration and immune response. All of these functions need to be completed at the cellular level through a series of molecular machines.

From the giraffe’s neck to the human eye, from the miraculous human immune and nervous system to the incredibly delicate and complex genes, every protein molecule and gene fragment in an organism is tailor-made and carefully designed. All this shows that the emergence of species cannot be caused by random mutations, but can only be carefully designed.

Darwin thought bacteria were simple organisms more than a hundred years ago, but today we know that E. coli is complex to a degree that is unimaginable.

In 2017, researchers from the California Institute of Technology in the United States said in a paper published in the Journal of Science that they found that the flagellum in E. coli has an extremely delicate structure and can be called a nanoscale engine . However, it is only 25 nanometers, equivalent to The size of over a hundred atoms.

Bacterial flagella are spiral filaments. The base of each filament has a rotating motor that can rotate clockwise or counterclockwise, driving the bacteria forward in a spiral trajectory. The structure of this rotating motor is similar to that of a car engine, including a rotor, a main shaft, a bearing, a connecting rod, and an adjustment and braking system, etc.

The bacterial flagellum motor can rotate 300 to 2,400 times per second. It can not only drive the bacteria to run at high speeds like a super sports car, and can run 60 to 100 times the length of the bacteria in one second, but it is also precisely controlled and can run in a quarter of a turn, brake inside and reverse direction.

The flagellar engine is composed of 50 parts and about 30 different protein molecules, which operate in coordination according to a specific internal mechanism. Without any one part, it cannot operate normally. Bacterial flagella are considered to be one of the most efficient, sophisticated, and complex protein nanomachines in nature, and have always been a difficulty in microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics, and structural biology research.

American biochemist Behe ​​believes that bacterial flagellum is a typical “irreducible complex system”. If there is no design blueprint in advance, according to Darwinian evolution, how can the random and accidental evolution process finally form a perfect machine? It can only be manufactured and installed according to strict procedures, and cannot evolve randomly.

2.3 Whose Masterpiece is The Exquisitely Constructed Human Body?

A protein as large as a cosmic body or as small as a cell needs to be carefully designed. Doesn’t a fully functional, exquisitely complex human body need to be carefully designed?

Cells are the basic units of human body structure and function. Human cells are like a carefully planned city. The cell membrane is like a moat. Various organelles perform their duties. The nucleus is the headquarters, directing the operation of the cell. The DNA in it carries the molecular information of life.

In 2023, Philip Ball, an American physicist and popular science writer, pointed out in his book  How Life Works : A User’s Guide to the New Biology, that life is far more complex than we imagine. Interestingly and wonderfully, genes are not the blueprint for all life, and modern science has not yet fully understood the complexity of life, so he believes it is necessary for people to be open-minded about the origins of life.

Ball points out in the book, “Darwin’s theory aroused controversy from the beginning, which was mainly scientific rather than theological. By the end of the 19th century, it became a dying theory… But even now , a theory that continues to be refined, adapted, extended, and debated, not to mention misused.”

There are many irreducibly complex systems inside the human body. The human body has a powerful self-repair mechanism, which includes the self-repair mechanism of genes, cells, organs and systems, allowing the human body to respond to various external challenges and injuries within a certain range and then return to a healthy state. How are these designs achieved?

In addition, the bio holographic theory of traditional Chinese medicine reminds us that a person’s ears, feet, hands and other parts can reflect the entire body.

 

One example is that all organs in the body have corresponding acupuncture points on the ears, which become the basis for auricular acupuncture treatment. Where did these complex structures come from?

The human body is composed of 130 trillion cells, and each cell contains all the genetic information of the human body. The overall information of human life is condensed into a fertilized egg, which then slowly differentiates and grows into a person. How can a human being finally and magically develop into a capable individual being? This shows that in the process of nurturing human life, the Creator has given the human body a certain power and mechanism, so that the tens of thousands of genes in the human body can be expressed in an orderly manner in different organs at the appropriate time.

Not only that, the subtleties of human body structure are also reflected in many other aspects.

The material world that physicists know includes many aspects, including planets, molecules, atoms, protons, electrons, quarks, neutrinos… So far, there are many tiny material components that people have not recognized. These material components are also related components of our human body in other dimensions. In 2006, American scholar Jay Alfred believed that we humans have bodies that are invisible to the naked eye⁹²⁸ .

 

The case of the brainless man has led scientists to realize that we humans have deep, invisible brain structures. In fact, we humans not only have bodies in other dimensions, but the bodies there are also inextricably linked to our bodies here.

Some people may be forced to amputate part of a limb as a result of a disabling accident. According to common sense, the amputated limb no longer exists, but what is strange is that the patient will feel the pain of the amputated limb that is no longer connected to the body. This is called “phantom limb pain”. 

Phenomenon Phantom limb pain is very common, occurring in up to 80% of amputee patients⁹²⁹  and the pain from the phantom limb often cannot be relieved by morphine or sympathetic denervation. So what should we do?

Because “phantom limb pain” comes from the invisible body in another space, scientists broke through the concept and used far-infrared rays to illuminate the “phantom limb pain area” of amputee patients, and achieved unexpected therapeutic effects. 

This shows that in addition to the body visible to the naked eye, the human body also has bodies in other dimensions. Where these bodies in other dimensions come from is probably another difficult question that Darwinian evolution cannot answer.

They further irradiated the soles of the phantom limb with far-infrared rays and found that the amputation patients’ bodies had electrical changes in the meridians, which were similar to the reactions in the soles of normal people–this shows that there is a connection between the “phantom limb” and the “meridians” of the human body.

Therefore, the structure of the human body is extremely complex and spans multiple spaces, including various organs, blood vessels, nerves and other organs recognized by Western medicine that are currently visible to humans. There are also the acupuncture points and meridians of traditional Chinese medicine as well as cells, atoms, molecules and other more microscopic structures. This is a super huge system.

The structure of the human body is so complex, intelligent, and mysterious that it far exceeds anyone’s thinking and imagination. It is obviously not something that can be automatically formed through random combination as Darwin said. So, how did such an exquisitely constructed human body, including the soul, come into being?

No matter how advanced human’s modern biotechnology is, at most it can only create some supporting artificial lenses that have no metabolic function and serve as body parts. It cannot even create a living cell, let alone a human soul. The complete failure of human cloning technology shows that humans can only be created by intelligent life that is more advanced than humans.

And that kind of being with more advanced intelligence than human beings that can create such exquisite intelligence as human beings, could it be what we usually think of as “god”?

Why did human cloning technology fail? Many people think it is because the current technology has not yet reached that point. In fact, this idea itself is a kind of blind worship of current scientific methods, thinking that understanding the superficial laws of genes and cells can start creating species and just ignores the existence of material energy in different spaces in the human body beyond the genetic level. People also absurdly explain various mental and spiritual phenomena as the result of chemical reactions in the nervous system, completely ignoring issues such as the communication mechanism between the human body and cosmic information and the source of cosmic information.

If people can truly let go of their inherent ideas and think rationally about the subtleties of the human body’s structure, it will not be difficult to find that only those advanced intelligent beings in the universe have greater wisdom, greater abilities, and greater supernatural powers than humans── God can freely combine material particles of different sizes in other dimensions, and give humans souls, so that they can ultimately create such great and exquisite masterpieces as humans.

2.4 Scientists Admit the Existence of Advanced Intelligent Life

Scientists realize that there are intelligent life forms in the universe that are more advanced than humans.

In 1964, the former Soviet astrophysicist Nikolai Semenovich Kardashev (1932-2019) proposed the idea that there are intelligent civilizations more advanced than humans . Human civilization is simply unable to compete with those intelligent civilizations. Comparable. 

After the 1950s, when scientists discovered the structure of biological macromolecules, they had to think about this question: How are these complex molecular structures and functions generated? They obviously cannot be generated by means of random evolution.

In 1993, in Pajaro Dunes, a town in central California, a group of scientists and philosophers from top universities in Europe and the United States, including Michael Behe ​​and Phillip Johnson, discussed the theory of evolution. 

After raising doubts, he boldly abandoned the theory of evolution and put forward the “Intelligent Design Theory” . They believe that life on earth, including humans, should be the product of the design and creation of more advanced intelligent life. 

In 2020, Avi Leob, a famous American astrophysicist and chairman of the Committee on Physics and Astronomy of the National Academy of Sciences, pointed out that humans are not the only advanced life in the universe, and there are also more advanced lives than humans, and The universe in which humans live is likely to have been created by a civilization that is more advanced than humans.

Limited by the scientific system monopolized by evolution and atheism, these scientists failed to clearly put forward the concept of God. They only deduced that there is a “higher intelligence in the universe that can design and create all life on earth.” However, these scientists proposed The theory is actually one step closer to revealing the existence of God.

Elaine Howard Ecklund, professor of sociology at Rice University in the United States, and others conducted a sample survey of more than 20,000 biologists and physicists around the world from 2014 to 2019. The results show that more than three-quarters of the scientists surveyed believe that belief in God and engaging in scientific work are not inconsistent . 

In fact, throughout the ages, many great scientists believe that God exists in the universe and that God created everything in the universe.

These scientists who believe in the existence of God include Isaac Newton, the founder of classical physics , Nicolaus Copernicus , the astronomer who proposed the heliocentric theory, Johannes Kepler , the astronomer who invented the laws of planetary motion , and modern times. Galileo Galilei, the father of mechanics⁹⁴¹ , Samuel Morse, the father of the telegraph, Gregor Mendel, the originator of genetics , Louis Pasteur, the chemist who invented pasteurization⁹⁴⁴ , Neurophysiologist John Eccles who discovered synaptic transmission⁹⁴⁵ , founder of modern experimental science Francis Bacon⁹⁴⁶ and founder of quantum theory Max Karl Ernst Ludwig Planck⁹⁴⁷, to name a few. 

Some people may question, if humans are designed and created by higher-level intelligent beings or gods, why do humans have diseases and suffering? Why not design a human society free of disease and suffering?

This kind of questioning is exactly a misunderstanding of higher-level beings or gods. How can people understand the original design intention of higher-level beings from their own limited level? The so-called diseases and suffering may remind people that the world is not perfect, and inspire people to think and pursue a higher realm of life.

2.5 Real Examples Prove the Existence of Other Dimensions

If God truly exists in this universe, then people may ask, where is God? People cannot see the existence of God, so they doubt whether God really exists.

In fact, scientists have long proposed the concept of other spaces, which reflects that scientists are constantly expanding their understanding of the structure of the universe. There are many spaces in the universe, and the relationship between different spaces is very complex. The concept of time in different universes may be different, and the ways in which life exists may also vary. Current physical theories may be able to explain some local phenomena in the universe, but there may also be more complete theories and understandings in the future.

The space visible to the naked eye and even measurable by instruments is limited to the detection range of the naked eye and the instrument itself. It may not be possible to detect the space where high-level life exists, let alone understand the status of high-level life.

Former Royal Air Marshal Sir Robert Victor Goddard, KCB, CBE, DL (February 6, 1897 – January 21, 1987), who served in the Royal Air Force at Durham, Scotland, stated at the base he experienced a strange experience of traveling through space .

In 1935, Wing Commander Victor Goddard was tasked with inspecting a disused Scottish airfield located in the village of Drem. This has led some to suggest that Goddard may have experienced a form of time travel, seeing the airfield as it would appear four years later in 1939.

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Bermuda Triangle, is a triangular region located in the North Atlantic Ocean. The three vertices of the area are roughly located in Miami, Florida; the Bermuda Islands; and Puerto Rico, with each side of the triangle stretching approximately 2,000 kilometers. Since the early 20th century, numerous planes and ships have mysteriously disappeared within the Bermuda Triangle. According to a 1977 BBC documentary, more than one hundred incidents involving thousands of people have been documented.

While some may attribute these disappearances to accidents, there is a puzzling aspect: some missing vehicles or people have reappeared elsewhere on Earth years later, unchanged from when they vanished.

While many researchers have proposed different theories to explain these mysterious events, such as climate anomalies and geomagnetic irregularities, none have been conclusively proven. By considering the possibility of other times and spaces and approaching these phenomena with a more open mind regarding space-time, these mysteries may become easier to understand.

Human existence is bound by the time and space we live in, which is just one of many possible cosmic realms. When the door between two different time and space dimensions opens, people may find themselves in an alternate time and space. Could the Bermuda Triangle be a connection between our human world and other dimensions?

Our accustomed concepts can limit our ability to accept extraordinary events in other dimensions and study them. Therefore, if humans want to break through the limitations of current science, we may first need to challenge our own established beliefs and broaden our perspectives.

2.6 Cases of Encountering High-Level Intelligent Life

In current human research and records, there are numerous accounts of people encountering or experiencing the presence of higher-level beings from other dimensions under specific circumstances.

Parapsychological studies such as near-death experiences, reincarnation, and intrauterine memory offer insights into the human soul’s ability to perceive and interact with advanced beings from other realms.

A near-death experience is considered a genuine encounter of the soul with another space or dimension. When the soul is freed from the constraints of the physical body, it may enter a realm inhabited by higher-level beings and gain a firsthand view of these advanced lives. These experiences offer a unique perspective on the existence of other dimensions and the beings that reside within them.

Based on extensive case studies of near-death experiences (NDEs), American medical scientist Dr. Jeffrey Long found that people who have had near-death experiences often recount in great detail their encounters with higher beings or deities in other dimensions. These experiences transcend individual beliefs, as even non-religious individuals, including atheists, report feeling or perceiving the presence of higher beings.

For example, five-year-old Paul had a near-death experience after being struck by a van while crossing the road. He described floating up into the air and then seeing the Virgin Mary holding him gently, which made him feel very comfortable and safe.

The places where people encounter higher-level beings are often described as “paradise”-like cosmic spaces, marked by extraordinary colors, brightness, and beauty that surpass anything found on Earth. These experiences frequently involve encounters with “beings of light” that emit an indescribably bright light filled with warmth and unconditional love.

Dr. Raymond Moody also noted that many near-death experiencers describe sensing or seeing the presence of gods or other advanced intelligent beings. These beings radiate an intense, radiant light and possess an eternal, powerful, and creative force, exuding unconditional love and immense warmth. These descriptions offer insights into the possibility of higher dimensions and beings beyond our everyday experience.

Eben Alexander, a renowned neurosurgeon from Harvard University in the United States, also encountered God and angels during a near-death experience. Alexander recounted that while in a coma, he felt as if his soul was soaring on the wings of a butterfly, reaching a vast, boundless realm he described as heaven. This realm was filled with immense pink-white clouds and translucent, shimmering objects. He felt the presence of God’s love and was accompanied by angels on his journey through this heavenly space.

In 1999, American orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mary C. Neal also had a near-death experience following an accidental drowning incident. During this time, her soul entered another dimension and encountered God. She later returned from this heavenly realm back to the earthly plane.

Michael Newton, an American psychologist, also described in his book Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives that before departing their bodies and reincarnating, human souls enter a vast and wondrous realm filled with light, peace, compassion, and wisdom. Spiritual beings in this realm communicate with one another through thought sensing.

Japanese obstetrician and gynecologist Akira Ikegawa’s research on prenatal memory, or intrauterine memory, reveals that children with prenatal memories often describe being in another dimension, such as being among the clouds or in heaven, where they reside with angels and fairies. Before being born, they search the world for their future mother. Once they find her, they leave the sky and enter their mother’s womb.

These various parapsychological studies collectively suggest the existence of higher-level beings in the greater universe, indicating the presence of advanced forms of life beyond human experience.

Swedish scientist and philosopher Emanuel Swedenborg (January 29, 1688 – March 29, 1772) achieved notable success in fields such as astronomy, mathematics, and biology. At the age of 57, while dining in a London restaurant, he suddenly observed a dazzling light emanating from within the establishment. Within the light, he saw a man dressed in a white robe, though no one else in the restaurant noticed the apparition.

The following night, the man in the white robe reappeared in Swedenborg’s dream. He revealed himself as a messenger sent by God, tasked with giving Swedenborg a mission. Swedenborg would be taken to the spirit world to communicate with the spirits there and was instructed to document his experiences and share them with people on Earth.

The door to the spiritual world was subsequently opened to Swedenborg, allowing his soul to leave his body at will. He could maintain normal physiological functions and the preservation of his body during these out-of-body experiences. Upon returning to his physical body from the spiritual world, he could continue his regular life on Earth. This experience was distinct from a near-death encounter.

During his excursions in the spirit world, Swedenborg came into contact with various advanced beings. Some served as guides, while others offered protection. His experiences provided insights into the existence of higher realms and beings beyond our physical reality.

In ancient Chinese cultivation culture, there are records of souls leaving the body during meditation or spiritual practices, allowing individuals to visit other dimensions and encounter high-level beings or deities. These experiences have been documented over time and serve as evidence of the existence of higher realms beyond our physical world.

While there are numerous accounts of people seeing God or other advanced beings, these experiences are not universal. Many individuals hope to see God but do not, leading some to doubt the possibility of God’s existence. This may stem from the fact that encountering God is not solely dependent on human desire. Instead, it depends on whether God is willing to appear and allow individuals to perceive the divine presence.

God is considered an intelligent life form higher than human beings, with immense wisdom and power, capable of manifesting in various forms. The appearance of God is not determined by human will, but by the will of higher-level beings. Furthermore, God’s appearance may vary, and even if the divine is present, humans may not always recognize it.

These insights suggest that seeing God or other high-level beings is a profound and rare experience that occurs when the conditions are right, guided by the will of higher powers rather than human expectations.

2.7 Think About Traditional Cultural Stories From Another Angle

Miracles can be seen not only in the creation of life and the universe but also in the traditional cultures of humanity that have been preserved for thousands of years. These cultures are rich in stories, beliefs, and practices that reflect the profound and wondrous aspects of life.

Every country and nation around the world has its own unique traditional culture that carries its origin and history. These traditions often include ancient myths, legends, and rituals that explain the creation of the world, the origins of their people, and the relationships between humans and higher powers.

These cultural narratives often contain accounts of miracles, divine interventions, and extraordinary events that have been passed down through generations. Such stories provide insights into how different cultures understand the mysteries of the world and the role of higher beings in human life.

These traditions can serve as a source of inspiration, identity, and moral guidance for the people within those cultures. By studying and honoring traditional cultures, we gain a deeper appreciation of the diverse ways humanity has sought to comprehend and navigate the mysteries of existence.

China, often referred to as the “Land of China,” has a rich and ancient cultural heritage filled with myths, legends, and historical accounts that have been passed down through generations. These stories are preserved in ancient texts such as Sou Shen Ji (Anecdotes about Spirits and Immortals), Biography of Immortals, and Taiping Guangji (Extensive Records of the Taiping Era). They feature characters such as the “Red Pine Seed” and the “Western Queen Mother,” along with numerous other tales.

China’s history includes the Three Sovereigns, revered figures in Chinese mythology: Nuwa, Fuxi, and Shennong. These figures are credited with establishing the foundations of Chinese civilization through their saintly virtues and extraordinary abilities. Nuwa is known for repairing the sky with five-colored stones; Fuxi is credited with creating the Bagua, teaching people how to fish, raising livestock, and creating musical instruments; and Shennong introduced agriculture and medicine to the Chinese people by tasting hundreds of herbs. Shennong saw that people were often poisoned or injured by diseases due to improper diet , so he taught the people to sow grains according to the dryness, moisture, fatness and thinness of the land

The Shangshu (Book of Documents) contains the ancient mythological allusion “Jedi Tiantong,” describing the harmonious coexistence and governance of humans and gods during the period of Zhuanxu.  Zhuanxu’s “fate is heavy and Li, and the sky is perfect, and there is no downgrade” This narrative highlights the role of celestial and terrestrial officials in maintaining order between heaven and earth, ensuring the separation between the divine and the mortal realms. Chong and Li here refer to the descendants of Zhuanxu, who are the chief officials of heaven and earth.

They are responsible for managing astronomy and geography so that heaven and earth are not connected, gods and people are not disturbed, and each is in its order. There is a similar record in “Guoyu” : “Zhuanxu accepted it and ordered Nanzheng to supervise the sky to belong to the gods, and ordered Huozhengli to supervise the earth to belong to the people, so that they could return to the original state without intrusion. This is called Juedi Tiantong

People often interpret myths, legends, and religious texts as fantasy stories. However, some of these stories, such as those in The Classic of Mountains and Seas (Shanhaijing), an ancient Chinese text filled with mythical tales, may have historical or archaeological foundations.

One of the three most wonderful books in ancient China, records many mythical stories, including gods, strange animals and plants, and rare treasures. Many people find it incredible and even do not believe it. Archaeologists have discovered that the records in “The Classic of Mountains and Seas” may be true

 For instance, the Sanxingdui archaeological site in Sichuan Province has revealed cultural relics that closely resemble descriptions from the Shanhaijing, including the bronze divine tree, which bears a striking resemblance to the “Fusang tree,” and the bronze divine bird, which resembles the “Phoenix.” These findings suggest that China’s traditional culture and myths may contain elements of truth, intertwined with history and archaeology.

Liu Xin (later renamed Liu Xiu), a classics scholar in the Western Han Dynasty, believed that “The Classic of Mountains and Seas” is the true history left by ancient sages. He once reported to Emperor Ai of the Han Dynasty that “The Classic of Mountains and Seas” “are all the legacy of sages and sages, and they are also the authors of ancient texts. Its contents are clear and trustworthy”.

In October 1936, an American woman, Henriette Mertz, visited four American mountain ranges by hiking, mainly based on the geographical descriptions in the English translation of the Classic of Mountains and Seas, and found that the mountains recorded in the Classic of Mountains and Seas were as follows. 

The peaks of North America have striking correspondences . Mertz also discovered that “The Classic of Mountains and Seas” described quite accurately the obsidian gold nuggets contained in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of the United States. 

Whether it is records in ancient books, modern scientific research or the results of field investigations by different people, they all jointly prove that “The Classic of Mountains and Seas” was not imagined out of thin air, but may instead be a record of facts. In fact, there are other ancient legends that have also been confirmed by archaeology.

Greek mythology is an integral part of Western civilization’s cultural and historical heritage, documenting the foundational role of gods such as Zeus and their interactions with humanity. These stories and legends provide insight into the ancient Greeks’ belief in the influence of divine powers over their lives and the natural world.

“The Greeks felt that divinity exists in the entire universe and fills it. Every mountain and every river is dominated by a god. Every season and everything related to people’s daily life has a god blessing it. “When Greeks encountered difficulties, they would pray to the gods for help, and the gods would respond.”

Historians studying ancient Greece observe that the gods of Olympus wielded immense divine power, shaping the course of human life through oracles, prophecies, and direct interventions. The Greeks believed that divinity permeated the entire universe, governing every mountain, river, and season. Their daily lives were intertwined with the gods, and they often sought divine assistance in times of difficulty.

These ancient beliefs highlight the importance of reason, humility, and open-mindedness in understanding the existence of God. While modern science has made significant advancements in our knowledge of nature and the universe, it is still limited in scope. As a result, the abundance of miracles documented in traditional culture, combined with modern scientific discoveries and the faith of many contemporary scientists, suggests the existence of God or higher powers should not be dismissed.

To sum up, the knowledge of God’s existence requires human reason, humility and an open mind. The limitations of human science determine that human beings’ understanding of nature and the universe is still very limited.

Blindly denying the possibility of God’s existence may indicate a rigid and stubborn mindset. Conversely, outright rejecting religious belief as unscientific without considering the evidence and experiences of others can itself be unscientific. An open and thoughtful approach to the existence of God allows individuals to explore the deeper mysteries of life and the universe with a broader perspective.
