AUSTIN, TX — A new initiative is equipping Texas educators to become champions for environmental stewardship in schools. The Take Care of Texas Ambassador Program is now accepting applications from K–12 science teachers who are passionate about conservation and eager to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.
Launched under the state’s Take Care of Texas campaign, the ambassador program aims to empower educators to integrate environmental awareness into classrooms, campuses, and communities. The initiative supports teachers with tools, curriculum resources, and opportunities for collaboration with like-minded peers.
“We’re empowering teachers to help Take Care of Texas,” program leaders said in a statement. “Our goal is to create a network of educators who are informed, supported, and ready to guide students in preserving Texas’ natural resources.”
Who Can Be a Take Care of Texas Ambassador?
The program is designed for K–12 science educators who:
  • Are passionate about conserving Texas’ land, air, and water

  • Show enthusiasm for environmental education

  • Want to shape and improve Take Care of Texas curriculum

  • Are committed to sharing program materials within their school and district

Ambassador Responsibilities
Participants in the ambassador program will:
  • Teach official Take Care of Texas lessons

  • Share resources with fellow teachers and administrators

  • Promote student contests and engagement opportunities

  • Attend three virtual meetings throughout the school year

  • Provide feedback on educational content and classroom tools

What’s in It for Educators?
Ambassadors receive a range of exclusive benefits, including:
  • A certificate of recognition for their environmental leadership

  • A small gift of appreciation

  • Permission to use the Take Care of Texas Ambassador Program logo in email signatures or presentations

  • Early access to new classroom resources, contests, and educational materials

  • A supportive community of fellow science educators from across the state

Educators interested in joining this community of environmental stewards can apply online now through the program’s official website. Spaces are limited, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
