Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, observed on the third Monday of January, is more than a federal holiday—it’s a day to honor one of the most influential leaders in the fight for civil rights. This day encourages reflection, education, and action toward justice and equality.

Dr. King’s leadership in the Civil Rights Movement, including his advocacy for nonviolent resistance, played a pivotal role in dismantling racial segregation and discrimination. Houston: 31st Annual MLK Grande Parade in Midtown
Despite the bitterly cold weather and incoming winter storm, Houston will still host its MLK Grande Parade on Monday, January 20, 2025, with the theme “Unity Through Diversity.” Featuring culturally diverse performance groups from across the nation, this vibrant parade celebrates Dr. King’s vision.

  • Date: Monday, January 20, 2025
  • Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM CST
  • Location: San Jacinto Street & Elgin Street, Midtown Houston, TX 77004
  • Admission: Free to the public

Spectators can enjoy the parade live or watch it on CW 39. For more details, visit mlkgrandeparade.org.

Dallas: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade
In Dallas, the 2025 MLK Day Parade will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Organized by H.E.L.P. in partnership with the City of Dallas, the parade will feature 250 entries, including floats, bands, and community groups.

  • Date: Saturday, January 18, 2025
  • Time: 10:00 AM CST
  • Route: Starting at Fair Park (Pennsylvania entrance), proceeding west on Pennsylvania Ave., north on Latimer St., and east on MLK Blvd., returning to Fair Park.
  • Registration: Parade entrants must register at help-dallas.org/mlk-parade.

These parades are free and open to the public, offering vibrant celebrations of Dr. King’s life and values.
