Balloon Museum Launches “Let’s Fly – Art Has No Limits” Interactive Exhibition in Austin

AUSTIN, TX — A new immersive art experience is taking flight in Austin this summer. The globally renowned Balloon Museum is making its Texas debut with the “Let’s Fly – Art Has No Limits” exhibition, opening Saturday, June 21, and running through Sunday, November 2, at 2930 W. Anderson Lane .

Exhibition Highlights & Timeline
This 65,000-square-foot sensory playground features more than 19 international artists and their balloon-based installations exploring themes of air, flight, and freedom. Featured pieces include:

  • “Mariposa” – a 26-foot LED butterfly by Christopher Schardt, swingable beneath for an interactive lightshow

  • “Her Joy” – a breathing mirrored sphere by Alex Schweder.

  • “ADA” – a kinetic charcoal-drawing balloon by Karina Smigla-Bobinski

  • “Hyperstellar” – an aerial light installation by Hyperstudio

  • A host of others, including works by Rub Kandy, Quiet Ensemble, Camilla Falsini, Cyril Lancelin, Tadao Cern, and more 

Hours & Admission

  • Monday–Thursday: 2–8 p.m.

  • Friday: 11 a.m.–9 p.m.

  • Saturday: 10 a.m.–9 p.m.

  • Sunday: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.  Tickets cost $50.84 (adults), $47.48 (teens 13–17), and $38.57 (children 4–12); group rates and advance purchase options are available online

Why It Matters
This marks the first appearance of the Balloon Museum in Texas, part of its expanding global presence which has already drawn over 10 million visitors in more than five countries. It offers a bold fusion of art, architecture, technology, and play—a family-friendly exhibit designed to engage all ages.

“Austin’s spirit of creativity and its reputation as a hub for innovation make it the natural choice for the next chapter in the U.S.,” said Roberto Fantauzzi, founder of Italy-based Lux Entertainment, producer of the exhibition 

Visitor Experience
Expect to walk through light-filled sculptures, swing from a glowing butterfly, explore VR dream worlds, breathe alongside reflective spheres, and even influence a charcoal-drawing machine with your movement. It’s a visually striking, tech-infused celebration of air and imagination.
