Commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Week Across Texas

The 6th Annual Texas Holocaust Remembrance Week will be observed statewide from January 27-31, 2025, under the guidance of the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission. This observance serves as a vital opportunity to reflect on the horrors of the Holocaust, educate future generations, and promote a united stand against hatred and intolerance.

Texas is home to several Holocaust museums and educational initiatives, offering transformative experiences that combine history, education, and the promotion of human dignity. Below are some of the key events taking place in January 2025.

Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum

Event: International Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemoration 2025

  • Date: Sunday, January 26, 2025
  • Time: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Location: 300 N. Houston Street, Dallas, TX 75202
  • Details:
    This year’s commemoration includes a screening of Defiant Requiem, a documentary showcasing the resilience of Jewish prisoners in the Terezin Concentration Camp. Through a performance of Verdi’s Requiem, they defied their Nazi captors and reclaimed their humanity. Holocaust historian Alexandra Zapruder will offer additional insights into the role of art and the human spirit during adversity.

Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio

Event: Holocaust: Learn & Remember

  • Dates: January 6-27, 2025
  • Location: Various San Antonio Public Library branches
  • Theme: Liberation
  • Details:
    This year’s program focuses on stories of concentration camp survivors and U.S. soldiers who played a crucial role in their liberation. Featuring speakers, exhibits, and educational programs, the event emphasizes resilience, rescue, and the enduring need to confront hatred.

March of Remembrance: Holocaust Garden of Hope – Kingwood, TX

  • Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Location: Holocaust Garden of Hope, Kingwood, TX
  • Details:
    Join this impactful event to honor Holocaust victims, amplify survivor voices, and unveil the third exhibit in the garden. The March of Remembrance fosters unity, reflection, and a commitment to combat hatred.

Holocaust Museum Houston

Event: Free Admission for International Holocaust Remembrance Day

  • Date: Sunday, January 26, 2025
  • Location: Lester and Sue Smith Campus, 5401 Caroline, Houston, TX 77004
  • Details:
    In commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the museum offers free admission to honor the six million Jews and countless others who suffered during the Holocaust.

      • Monday: Closed
      • Tuesday-Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
      • Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
