The Hill Country Turns Purple This June — Blanco’s Lavender Festival Is Back for Year 21

Three days of live music under the oak trees, lavender products straight from the farm, artisan vendors, and the most fragrant small town square in Texas — the Blanco Lavender Festival runs June 5 through 7. And it’s free.

There is a weekend every June when the small Hill Country town of Blanco becomes one of the most beautiful and most visited places in Texas. The lavender is in full bloom. The historic downtown square fills with vendors, music, and the unmistakable scent of one of the most iconic crops in the region. And thousands of visitors from across the state make the drive for exactly the kind of experience that can’t be replicated anywhere else.

The 21st Annual Blanco Lavender Festival runs Friday, June 5 through Sunday, June 7, 2026, on the historic Blanco square — and admission is free.

How Blanco Became the Lavender Capital of Texas

Blanco’s lavender story starts with Hill Country Lavender, Texas’s first commercial lavender farm. The farm began cultivating lavender in the early 2000s, drawn by the region’s alkaline soils, hot summers, and dry climate — conditions that mirror the lavender-growing regions of Provence, France. The crop thrived. Word spread. Other growers followed. Hill Country Lavender will be open for visitors to enjoy during the festival weekend — meaning you can combine the square celebration with a genuine farm visit, walking through rows of blooming lavender and taking the kind of photographs that make people immediately ask you where you went.

The Blanco Chamber of Commerce officially launched the Lavender Festival to celebrate and promote that agricultural heritage, and what started as a small community event has grown into one of the most anticipated June weekends in Central Texas — drawing visitors from Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and far beyond.

What Three Days on the Square Looks Like

One of the best things about the festival is the incredible live music available all three days. Grab a beer, wine, or a Lizzie — Blanco’s signature lavender lemonade — and head into the park to enjoy great music in the shade of the big oak trees. The music lineup covers three full days across multiple stages, with artists performing throughout the afternoon and into the evening each day.

The market is packed with lavender products from local farms — essential oils, soaps, sachets, culinary lavender, lotions, candles, and honey — as well as artisan vendors offering handmade goods from across the Hill Country and beyond. The on-site lavender farm is open Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 2026 festival artwork was created by Gwyn Tiano — the official commemorative piece for the 21st annual celebration, available on festival merchandise at the event.

Know Before You Go

Due to the extreme heat and the amount of asphalt, the festival asks that you leave pets at home for their health and safety. Service animals are welcome. Wear sunscreen, bring a hat, and dress for outdoor Texas heat in early June. Comfortable walking shoes are essential — the square covers significant ground and the farm visit adds more.

Parking fills quickly on Saturday, which is the busiest day of the festival. Arrive early or plan to walk from overflow parking areas. Blanco is a small town, so respect local residential areas when parking.

Make It a Hill Country Weekend

Blanco sits about 45 minutes west of Austin and an hour north of San Antonio on US-281 — an easy drive that rewards you with Hill Country scenery all the way there. Stay overnight in Blanco or the nearby Wimberley area, add a winery stop along the way, and pair the festival with a swim in the Blanco River for the full Hill Country summer experience.
