You know summer is officially here when the peaches come in on Highway 290. And every third weekend of June, the tiny Hill Country community of Stonewall — hometown of President Lyndon B. Johnson, population just over 500 — becomes one of the most fun places in Texas.
The 65th Annual Stonewall Peach JAMboree and Rodeo runs Thursday, June 18 through Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Stonewall Chamber Grounds at 250 Peach Street. This is exactly the kind of Texas event that exists nowhere else — a CPRA-sanctioned professional rodeo, two nights of live country music, a Saturday morning parade, a Peach Queen coronation, and more fresh peach products than you can carry back to the car.
The Rodeo
The Peach JAMboree Rodeo is sanctioned by the Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association and offers $20,000 in added money across all events — bull riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping, goat tying, and more. This is a legitimate, high-level professional rodeo, not a local show, and it draws competitors from across the region.
Thursday, June 18 opens with the free Slack Rodeo at 8 p.m. — unofficial overflow events with mutton bustin’ for the kids, food, beer, and wine. Friday and Saturday nights bring the full rodeo performances starting at 8 p.m., each followed by a concert and dance.
Mutton bustin’ runs across all three nights, with registration opening when gates open at 6 p.m. at the Chamber Building. Registration is first come, first served. Children must weigh 60 pounds or less. Entry fee is $30 per child.
The Music
Friday night, June 19: Randall King takes the stage after the rodeo — the West Texas singer-songwriter and rising country star who has been selling out venues across the state.
Saturday night, June 20: The Kentucky Headhunters close out the weekend — the Grammy-winning Southern rock and country legends whose sound is a perfect match for a Texas summer dance under the stars.
Saturday Is the Big Day
Saturday is when the JAMboree hits full stride. The morning parade kicks off at 10 a.m. from Stonewall Elementary School, heading east on Peach Street and looping back — floats, bands, horses, and the Peach Queen and her court. After the parade, the grounds open for free daytime activities until 6 p.m.: the Peach Queen Coronation, a peach-eating contest, a peach-baking contest, the Peach Patch kids’ area, a washer and 42 tournament, goat roping, food vendors, and fresh peaches, peach cobbler, and peach ice cream on the grounds.
After the parade, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church serves BBQ by the pound with beans and potato salad — a JAMboree tradition that draws a line as long as the rodeo arena. Get there early.
The Peaches
Stonewall and the surrounding Hill Country communities produce over one million bushels of peaches every year — the sweet, firm, intensely flavorful variety that thrives in the alkaline Hill Country soil and hot summer sun. Fresh peaches are sold individually on the Chamber grounds. For larger quantities, multiple peach stands line Highway 290 just outside of town where you can load up for jams, cobblers, and the best peach ice cream you’ll make all summer.
Know Before You Go
Daytime Saturday activities before 6 p.m. are free. Evening rodeo and concert tickets must be purchased in advance or at the gate. No dogs or lawn chairs are allowed inside the gate. No pets in the rodeo area — they can spook livestock and cause injury. Parking is located behind Stonewall Elementary School and along Peach Street.
Stonewall sits just 12 miles east of Fredericksburg on Highway 290 — combine the JAMboree with a winery stop or two along the way and you have a full Hill Country weekend.
