From a $100-a-week rural arts program in Fayette County to museum camps in Corpus Christi, theater immersions in Fort Worth, and splatter rooms in Plano — Texas has an arts summer camp for every kid, every budget, and every corner of the state.
Summer is coming fast, and if you haven’t locked in plans for your creative kid yet, here’s the good news: Texas is full of arts camps that go well beyond the standard watercolor-and-construction-paper experience. These are real programs — taught by professional artists and educators — where kids go home with skills they didn’t have on Monday morning.
Here’s your statewide guide, from the most affordable community programs to full-day immersive experiences.
Fayette County — Arts for Rural Texas Summer Camps
The most affordable and mission-driven arts camp on this list, Arts for Rural Texas runs weeklong sessions throughout June and July at locations in Fayetteville, La Grange, Schulenburg, Columbus, and Weimar — serving grades 1 through 12 at just $100 per week.
Classes run either 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. and cover painting, drawing, quilting, needle felting, theater, radio, movie making, music, photography, and more — with sessions designed specifically for lower elementary, upper elementary, and high school age groups. The Fayetteville session is held at the Schmid ARTS Annex on Main Street. La Grange camps are held at the Texas Quilt Museum.
Founded in 2003 by Fayetteville residents who recognized that rural kids deserved the same access to art education as city kids, ARTS has now reached more than 40,000 children and adults across the region. This is the real thing — and at $100 a week, it is one of the best values in Texas summer programming.

Why Arts Summer Camp Matters
Research consistently shows that kids who engage in arts education demonstrate stronger critical thinking, higher test scores, lower dropout rates, and greater empathy. Arts camps don’t just keep kids busy — they build the creative confidence that transfers into every other area of life. Whether your child is a lifelong artist or has never picked up a paintbrush, the right camp meets them where they are and takes them somewhere new.
